Ok, so I've already got a Mac and all my music in iTunes.

I've also already got the Airport Express functioning as my wireless network hub.

Beresford DAC and all the necessary leads are on the way to me and I'm pretty sure I can manage the physical cabling.

But what do I actually need to do to stream the music across to the DAC? Are there any settings on Mac/iTunes that I need to change? It's running OSX 10.4.11 and iTunes 8.2 if that makes any difference.

Steve

Under iTunes preferences, use the Apple Lossless Encoder with error correction for importing (ripping) CDs, deselect the Sound Enhancer, Crossfade Songs and Sound Check playback options and you should be all set.

You need a spdif adaptor to fit into the headphone socket on the express.

Once plugged into your dac, back in itunes you will notice bottom right a pop up box saying computer. click in and select the express you may have given it another name.

The music will be directed that way. If you have an ipod touch you can choose it from there too.

Also , slightly off topic but worth mentioning is once you have ripped your CD's to the Mac make sure you make a back-up . Sounds obvious but it's often overlooked .

Thanks guys.

CDs are already ripped and backed up, it's all just waiting for the last piece in the chain when the DAC turns up.

I was expecting something more complex than just changing the output box! But hey, if that's all I need then should be up and running within minutes of opening the box.

Watch this space...

Yep, must have taken all of 5 minutes to get the whole lot up and running.

Time for some listening...

The Beresford takes a fair few days to warm up.

Can't be bothered to do any serious comparisons at the moment but first impressions are very positive.
