Make sure to do the firm ware updates to the current version. You can down load the update using computer and transfer to USB memory stick to update it or you can do it directly if your PS3 connects to the internet.

John After you update the firm ware, you will have a much better PS3 especially on the DVD player section. You will enjoy the upscaling option that not many blue-ray or HD-DVD can match.

Got my ps3 3 days ago now and updated it yesterday. Vision is wonderful. Just need a blu-ray movie with lpcm soundtrack to test it out.

John, hmmmmm that doesn't sound too promising. I'm sure it lists the ps3 as being able to do 5.1 with lpcm. Not got a film to test it on at the mo so its not a worry at present.
They are apparently doing an update so it will be able to decode dolby ad dts hd. No timescale given as to when though.

hi everyone I wonder if any of the members help me setup my PS3 with my infocus IN82. I setup home cinema with this projector,NVi and HDMI switching device. This works well with my sky HD and DVDs brilliantly. The PS3 software upgraded to latest version. I can use this with my Pioneer plasma very well with full functionality both vision and sound. The moment I connect to my cinema with or without the switching gear I can not get any picture.I tried help line which is poor and I am about to return this machine. Are there any other tricks to be tried. I also use NAC112/NAP150 for my front speakers B&W CDM1NT. Thanks in anticipation sundar

ryan-d have moved the ps3 into the bedroom as wifey is always watching the main tv, now rigged up onto a 26" toshiba lcd, outputting stereo via hdmi and lpcm, games look very good, still not convinced about blue-ray being the be all and end all, looks ok ? having said this i am not a lover of lcds anyway, and much prefer my fujitsu plasma, each to there own.

Yeah John I know what you mean. I was impressed with the picture though but wsa wondering about hte 5.1 sound via hdmi. I'm only getting pro-logic through my amp as I am using optical cable. Still sounds not too bad.
