Help!
I think I am going mad I have bought a Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV with 2 HDMI inputs (one is fed by SKY HD) and the other is connected via wireworld ultraviolet cable to a DVD 5 (DVI to HDMI) I am getting a picture that flicks for a split second on then turns to snow. A couple of times after resets of the TV and DVD5 I get a picture that stays on untill I stop the DVD. This however is very unpredictable Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Simon |

Hi Simon,
I get this all the time with my projector and DVD 5.I have to remember to turn on the projector first then take the DVD 5 out of standby if the DVD5 is already on then i will get snow 9 times out of ten which is a real pain as is takes upto 15 mins of playing about trying different combinations to get the picture. The resons that i have been given are that the HDMI needs to "shake hands" with the DVI and if they dont then you get snow.So-not the best answer but you are not alone. Cheers Trevor |

Its comforting to know I am not alone! I have emailed Naim as per the advise and they might have a possible "handshake" solution (a firmware upgrade) Fingers crossed! Regards Simon |

Simon,
I just went through this myself. Read my "Unlucky Coincidence" thread a few lines below yours! The firmware CD update sorts it out, but you need to be careful to switch between "Interlaced On" (to activate the scart from the DVD5, and connect with one just to see the on-screen instructions, and back to "DVI on" after the update, in Video settings (I didn't think the instructions for this were very clear in the manual). Also note for those of you with external scalers:
"Interlaced on" means that the interlaced outputs are switched on, i.e the SCART and S-Video outputs It does not mean that the Hi-def video can be set interlaced or progressive... |
