Hi,
I am thinking of getting a video/dvd combi, so that i can transfer video tape to dvd, i realise the quality will not be brilliant but i have stuff i wish to keep and i want to get rid of the video tapes mainly because of the space they take up and also, video tape seems to be a 99% dead format.
Has anyone got one of these machines and what are your thoughts on them?
Regards
Chris N

Hi Chris
I bought a Sony HD/DVD (710). This has a 160mb HD and DVD recorder. I then just connected my old VHS to it and recorded everything to the HD. Doing this allowed me to edit out stuff that was not required, I then put them onto DVD.

I copied a lot of stuff from vhs to dvd using a jvc dvd recorder connected to a vcr - believe it or not the dvds looked better than the original vhs - if i remember correctly it had something to do with the jvc dvd recorder model drm1 having a 'time base corrector'
