Hi there,

Wondering if it would make sense to have a seperate NaimNet/Netstreams/DAC/HDD type section of the Naim Groups ? Just like we have Hi-Fi and Home Theatre today ?

Roy.

It makes a lot of sense as your going to get loads of questions about networks and cabling, backups, ripping and tagging of external music sources, compatible formats, control point hardware and software, etc. that would all benefit being in the same place.

Tagged file formats and ripping, perhaps as they relate to compatibility with Naim's own servers and hard-disk players–network storage and configuration could be better addressed in and amongst the IT-related universe, and may not be generally applicable to Naim users here, IMHO (in the default configuration).

It is rightly expected that any custom integrator authorized to sell Naim servers must be able to install and configure them on the network.

On the NetStreams (DigiLinX) side of things, the forum resources already exist to handle audio/video transport support issues, best served at the custom integrator level (not left to the typical end-user, as these are typically not limited to issues with a specific, unitary network client).

In general, however, most end-users of the servers will find (in a properly configured installation) the control side quite easy to grasp–just as easy as reading this sentence in a browser!

I concur and we can start the forum with a healthy discussion on the similarities between the HDX and the NS-03.

I also have one other technical question that no one at Netstreams or my installer can answer.

It is, what is the interoperability of Naim and other Netstreams partners equipment? Specifically, if I install the Iport (made by Sonos) and connect it to my Netstreams network as described. using a Medialinx, will it be able to access and draw off my music server, being controlled Netstreams/Naimnet?

Oh, and more question. While I already have much of my music ripped, what is your take on
http://www.ripstyles.com, seems a heck of a lot easier to do then on my computer.

thank you
