I'll be using a NAP140 for centre and a REL via phono for subwoofer.

Is it possible to disable the sub out from the din socket so only 1/2 the NAP140 has to work. Or do I need to cut the wire in the sub wire in the SNAIC?

The sub output stage is hard wired to the din socket.

Technically it would probably be better to power down the channel not used, but this constitutes a non-standard modification which naim do not approve of...

Why not just leave the other channel disconnected?

Thanks for the quick response

Because a standard SNAIC comes with all pins connected, since the SNAIC is connected to the 140 and one 1/2 will be driving the centre channel.

Don't wan't to mod the 140 it looks like I'll have to cut a wire in the SNAIC or get one specially made unless there will be no problem with driving the unused NAP 140 channel but I believe the amp expects 3.5m of cable with a loudspeaker at the other end. Also the sub power swings (I guess) would reduce power available to the centre.

good point...

ideally a specially made cable. You need to speak to your dealer on this one though.

Why not buy a second centre speaker?

Cheers

I don't think there's any problem with doing this, I've done it for a year or so, until I changed the 140 over to a 175.

Because the AV2 SNAIC has a single centre and the sub. To have a second centre (I could use a spare SBL) I would still need a custom lead.
