Any news on this, more detailed specification.

Am I correct in saying there will be an input to take on, lets say, a Sky+ input, and output to progressive scan.

What are the connections for this upgrade?

Regards

Allen

I hope they put one of those Realta HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) chips in:

Almost HDTV for SDTV sources! Has anyone seen this technology yet? Claims to be better than Faroudja...

happy watching

I am sure that the company rep I talked to in November said that it is a Faroudja scaler.

All,

Not quite the same but, I do belive the DVD5 already uses a version of the faroudja chip which with firmware mods can be used as a scaler. However looking at the back of the DVD5 there seems to be no inputs. I do belive to have the scaler the machine has to go back to the factory to have the correct mods done to the rear.
I am at some point this weekend going to try and up scale sky+ via my meridian DVD using an s video lead. If all goes well i'll let you know if the picture has been improved at all.

The scaler will be a plug-in (with a couple of jumpers to be removed) - the job will be done by selected dealers.
This will enable the SCART socket for input (we assume you will not be using it for output) and you will be able to daisychain SCART devices to the scaler.

We do not know as it is under development. Not cheap, but very special.
