Sky HD box arrived yesterday. Everything seemed fine (well, after waiting over 4 hrs for sky to activate), but tonight (Sunday) the picture is breaking up every 5 to 10 seconds - it jumps around or goes into small cubes etc - bloody frustrating!

Anyone else having problems?

You need to re-allign your sattelite dish. The picture is probably breaking up because the dish is not alligned properly.

I agree with bwolke, sounds like the dish is out or the 'bit in the middle' (LMB)? is faulty.
My HD picture is fine no problems, yet!

The weather can also play a good part in signal disturbance.

Before climbing up the ladder and tweaking, i suggest waiting for another day or two to see if it stops.

Cheers

We have just got back to London at 2300 and we have a sky HD box & sky + box and both are breaking up on ITV1. I agree with JasonS, atmospherics I suspect.

Everything is now fine - obviously weather related - we had one hell of a downpour during the night - must have cleared the air!

BTW, whilst having a look at other forums to see if anybody else was having problems, I came across a lot of discussion about boxes being installed without the latest version software - checked mine, which was only installed Saturday morning (10th) and sure enough it didn't have latest software.

I've now updated - very easy - put box on standby, turn off mains, take out vewing card, hold back-up button on top of box(not remote)and switch power back on whilst holding button. It automatically goes into software update mode which takes about 5-6 mins.

Thanks Gazzer,

I have just checked mine and I have the same.
I was just checking as the Sky engineer installed mine on Saturday morning too and I didn't notice whether he updated it or not for me. I guess he must have.

Nice one - I'm not sure what differences this makes - I gather there are loads of bugs in the system. We paused a film on Sat night and when we went to play it, it all frooze and we had to turn the mains off - I'm kind of hoping the updated software solves this problem.
