is there anyway to convert hd audio by hdmi v1.3 to av2 external inputs ,this would allow us
to sample new hd sound formats if the source device does not have 5.1 rca outputs.

Unfortunately in your situation there's no way of getting full and direct access to the high resolution sound formats like Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby True HD but I can suggest a compromise solution that's often used by owners of some of the more expensive AV processors, like Lexicon, without HDMI inputs.

Get the HD player to downmix the DD+/TrueHD track to 2-channel 48 or 96kHz PCM and pass this to the processor via the s/pdif output. Apparently, I've never tried it, DPLIIx is actually very good at recreating a surround field from a 2-ch source, so use that (or Logic7 on Lexicon processors) to process the signal back into 5.1.

The advantage of this is that you're using an uncompressed, lossless format to pass the signal from one box to the other and you're using the expensive DACs of your processor rather than the ones that come 'free' with the player. Unlikely as it may at first seem, this method can actually give better results than downmixing the HD track to a lossy format like DTS.

When downmixing a new HD-format to standard DTS, they at least take the biggest possible bit-rate, which is considerably higher than what you find in native DTS soundtracks on DVD's. Therefore it should still sound better...

Happy listening
