Oh go on then.....

Here's the business end.....

Which looked a bit like this over the past few weeks......

....the one bobble to rule them all.......
....ok, nevermind.......

Up front there's B&W CM4's and CMC, and a 32" sony crt.

Actually the rack has changed slightly as we've removed the cd changer (it was letting the side down a bit in that company after all) and the glass on the shelf above the RSX-1067's gone too.
The RDV-1060 now sits below the top level, and although it looked a bit weird to begin with, we're more interested in the screen than the rack, funnily enough, whenever we're watching a movie....so we'd rather have the extra cooling as the Rotel does get hot!!!

Oh, almost forgot to mention (for those that haven't seen it already) the other lava lamps, funky led's, dvd collection and fridge full of Stella that sits in what used to be a wardrobe....

Cheers,
Ali

Trevor,

How pleased are you with the CD performance of the DVD5? I've considered using it as my source component for both DVD and CD, but I don't want audio compromise...

Trevor,

Congratulations, nice setup! Try to get rid of the CRT-TV in between the front speakers, and lift the center to that place. I did this with a wall mounted flatscreen. Big difference!

Can you say a few words about your latest Axess to Axcent upgrade from the sound side?
The Axcent is quite a wide beast, but if you take a good look at the casing (no parallel sides), that must be quite a challenge to build for every carpenter!
I see you drive yours also with a NAPV175. I'm tempted to go with NAP145 later sometimes...

happy listening

Trev

How do you get on with the voicing of the front 3 speakers? I assume they have the same tonal balance?

I ask because I've had some great results with 5 essentially identical speakers all round and you might have a different experience?

Hi all,
Thank you for your feedback. Didn't bargin on questions....anyway
Scott - Only use DVD5 for DVD's CDS3, 552 and 500 sitting to the left hand side. Although I have played a CD in the DVD5 and it is quite acceptable.
Neil - Got the Axent 2nd hand from Lintone Audio after no one put in a bid on eeebay.
Adrian - I know even a 32" screen appears small at times. Axent gives a more subtle transition between Left and Right than the Axess perhaps only because it is wider but then it works. Agree with NAP145 and may be NAP250 for rears.
Jay - Axent blends in nicely with the Dynaudios. Because the speaker is naturaly angled upwards it does not sound as if it is virtually sitting on the floor.
All in all very pleased with it.

Hi neil,
If I remember you were getting a B&W center! How did that go.
It's always nice to find out where your ex equipment goes and know it is still being enjoyed. Small world...
Regards,
Trevor

hi trevor
i bought the b&w htm2d , i would say it gives the dialogue more presence than the axent did (using the 145)
im also going to swap the fronts for some 802d this year(which should give a stunning sound across the fronts)
and hopefully an av3 with room correction
regards

neil
