Hi

System : AV = DVD5+AV2+V175 Hi-fi = NAT05 + NAC202 + NAP200 All go to Totem speakers (Currently DVD5 being used as CD and DVD source)

I have my Naim AV system working with my Naim hi-fi and want to consider a interconnect upgrade. The AV2 connects to the NAC202 exactly as per the manual. Both ends are 5 pin din. I have an existing 5 pin din Chord Anthem interconnect which would seem to be a great upgrade on the standard interconnect at the moment. However, when I use the Anthem cable the AV2 won't talk to the NAC202. I've tried it in both directions and no response. I know the Anthem cable is OK as I used it to connect the DVD5 to the CD input of the NAC202 fine.

The current interconnect between the AV2 and the NAC202 has a label on it saying NA93. Perhaps this is a diffent 5 pin din to 5 pin din than normal cable used to connect source to pre-amp ?

Grateful for any advice. If I can't use the Anthem to improve the AV2 to NAC202 connection, can anybody recommend a good upgrade cable ?

Many thanks
Paul

It wont work.

The connection from AN3 out on the AV2 to a pre amp uses a reverse interconnect lead wired on the "tape" side at AV end.

I suspect your Chord lead is wired straight through

Thanks
Does that mean that finding an upgrade interconnect is near-on impossible. Not the kind of cable for sale other than from Naim I suspect. Perhaps the one I've got is a good as it gets.

If you speak to Chord nicely, they may modify your one...

This isn't the same question, but it's similar -- I just bought an AV/2 for use with my Nait5i, and I can figure out how to switch the Nait5i into "unity gain" mode, but I can't figure out how to set the AV/2's AN-3 "input" to send the source signal out to the Nait. I know this question has probably been asked and answered in these forums a hundred times, but I'd be grateful for an "express" reply.

AN3 always sends out the signal to the NAIT5i–but beware, you may need to offset the trims (down on L R front channels, up on C Ls Rs surround channels) due to the difference in amplifier gain on the NAIT5i.

In order to connect this, a DIN-5 to 2 RCA phono interconnect is required, with the DIN plug wired for record out.

Right now the cable is at an audio salon and tghe DIN plug is being "flipped" -- which they said is what it needs. Apparently they are going to cross-connect what has been the ch-1-in wire to the ch-1-out pin, and then do the same thing for ch-2. It's not too late to tell them that this isn't the right thing to do, but by about 2pm Eastern US time, it will be.
