hi munch, mine just sits on an optimum av stand, wifey keeps moaning about all the cables behind that you can now see, as i only have n-vi and tv-drive on bottom shelf, centre speaker on middle shelf, where as before had 3805 quite a bit bigger than the n-vi, with dvd player on top of the tv drive, covered up the gap a lot more,

Just underneath my plasma on a low 2 shelf wooden table. I just made sure it sits level and that was that. Works fine for me :-)

OK. Mine is on the bottom shelf of a Quadraspire AV unit. A 250.2 to its left and Sky+ straddling both of them. Next shelf up is my centre speaker. TV on the top (glass) shelf.

Now if you'd asked what is my (3rd) n-Vi standing in then I'd have to say "the last chance saloon"! Frown

Nice place james n! Looks almost like a minimalistic approach, after all those big multibox-systems Winker

I never saw naim speakers that far from the back wall, and that much toed in. I have heard (but not tried myself), that the newer series is more tolerant to this. But the old series (IBL, SBL, DBL) sounds best as close as possible to the rear wall (without touching it), and not toed in at all. Have you tried that once? Probably you'll have to swap the positions of the speakers and the cd-racks, otherwise the gap in between L + R could get too big... at least for stereo use without active center.

happy listening
Adrian

Adrian - thanks - it's the tidiest Naim System i've had :-).

The speakers are actually Neat Motives 2's with a Neat Motive Centre. Looking at the pics they do look quite 'Naim' like.

Cheers

James

PS - Yep TEE - wouldnt want people thinking i had a fascination for trains ;-)

Hi Jon - PJ Hi-Fi initially recommended the Motive 1's which i thought may have been too big for the room, so i auditioned the 2's. Superb little speakers and running in nicely now. Neat were also very quick answering a couple of questions which was nice too. Just dissapointed a didnt have room for 2's at the rear too. The n-Vi drives them very well but i've got a couple of spare Naim amps i'm going to try driving them with.

James.

Which amps?

I've been driving mine with a 200, which to my ears not only sounds great but has plenty of power on tap.

Big Ooops!! That mistake shurely cost me a lot of flat earth points Eek It was probably already too tired to post...

Thought it was a pair of Allae's. But then the top had to be rounded like the grilles in front. And of course the split-line in the case is missing.

Sad there is no Neat distributor for Switzerland. So I had no chance to hear some Neat's up to now. It's good you like 'em how they are placed now.

Does Neat do some special wall mounting brackets to put the center properly up the wall? Or are these standard "angles" from a do-it-yourself shop?

happy listening
Adrian

Hey Adrian, out of interest, where abouts are you in Switzerland? I spent the weekend in a place called Arth-Goldau on the shores of Lake Zug, as the guest of a colleague from another forum, listening to his amazing system and climbing the Rigi Mountain (by train of course - lol!).

Hey JonR! I know where, south of the lake. But I was never there myself. Only passing by north of the lake from time to time... I am more to the west from where you have been. You can mail me under adi at mac dot com if you like to know more.

Hi munch! Thanks, but they are not mine... It show's james n's place.

As long as you don't block any vents in the case, it should not be a problem. Looks like one of those new Pioneer all-in-one plasmas to me, but I was wrong before, so don't count on that! Roll Eyes

Adrian - yep its mounted on standard angle brackets as there was no decent brackets available to do it. Its mounted on the Neat supplied foam pads for a bit of isolation but its one thing i'll probably address in the future. Ideally it would be on its own stand away from the wall but that would look a bit naff in my setup. It works very well anyway for now.

Munch - a bit of heat does come up from the Plasma - not really noticed any effect on the speaker as the screen has plenty of ventilation. Its a Pioneer 436sx Plamsa.

Cheers

James

Thanks Munch - i did look at those but didnt like the fixing to the wall as i wanted to spread the load better as its a reasonably weighty centre.

Cheers

James.
