I watched Battle of Britain last week, I'm just reading Roy Jenkins biography of WSC - and had just got to the end of the Battle of France.

I remember watching BoB in the cinema in Warsaw as a nine year old; fortunately in English!

I have just watched a reviewers edition of 'The world's fastest Indian'. It is on at cinemas at the moment. Don't miss it, it is utterly priceless. Not one shooting, not one swear word just perfect entertainment.

Fight Club

Never seen it before. Nothing like what I'd expected, very very good with a real twist towards the end. the violent bits are quite graphic, but the really nasty thing is it messesd with your head...

Hi Frank,

Bought Fight Club for 2.99 on rep. last week.

Still haven't watched it, I'll find the time based on your comment.

Fight Club is perfect - if you have a slant on life.
American Beauty - of equal (but different) appeal.

Just watched Le Boucher (37 years after first seeing it) and ... it didn't stand up all that well.

Whereas Rear Window still seems worth watching.

Channel 4 showed the Manchester gig a couple of weeks ago. I'd taped it and watched it last night. Good stuff. Could have been shot better though as i don't remember seeing much footage of the crowd.

Thin Red Line ... thumbs up! Music, acting and story (and all the techno stuff)

Battle of Britain I have and will continue to recommend...starring the Spitfire of course! BTW I guaran-dam-tee you that if you get a chance to "fly behind" the pilot of a Spitfire on a Naim HT system it will blow your mind!

Especially DBLS' n-Sub ;-)

Having just "flown" across the mangrove swamps of the Everglades FLA in an airboat, I can tell you the Spitfire experience comes close...(gotta add a big fan synced to the video and that should do it!)

I am about to edit my DV footage of the Mangrove trip in iMovie though ;-)

Maybe i'll post a link later...

DBL's AND N-Sub!?!

Yikes Chris Eek I thought, I'll never need a Sub with these two cute litte refrigerator sized boxes in my living room.
I would check the buildings fundation for new cracks after this spitfire attack...

happy listening

Fried Green Tomatoes.

It's funny, as much as I like the blockbusters it is films like this that somehow stay in my 'immediate' collection, and don't get moved upstairs.

Firstly... Thin Red Line was meant to say Walk the Line (story of Johnny Cash) in my earlier post - oops!

Yes Adrian, an n-Sub set up for very lowest bass does a great LFE (Low Frequency Effects) job when the DBLS's are used for HT. Those effects piped through the Sub channel that are intended to be felt, really have an extraordinary impact... and combined with the low distortion high SPL capabilty of DBL's the results can only be described as stunning! (note: not just loud)

Nothing else I've heard anywhere comes even close ...in terms of realism.

"Man on Fire" - Tony Scott. What a talentless director he continues to be.

I thought this film was as moronic as could be and struggled to get through it. Then I discovered the deleted scenes and, finally, incredulity turned to fall about laughter.

True dross.

Stretching suspension of disbelief unbelievably...shame as there were, as frequently with TS, some good bits; real curates' egg.

The only Tony Scott film that I re-watch is True Romance, which I think is a good film; and probably gained by being written by, and NOT directed by QT.

Rolling Stones - Forty Licks.

My wife popped in on her way up to bed and stayed for another 15 minutes.

Madagascar - better than expected (not a fan of Ben Stiller), some good fun, the penguins were great!

The Brothers Grimm - possibly the worst movie I have ever watched. What a shame, such potential.

Serenity - OK, pretty good, nothing new (and I never watched Firefly) but good visuals and a couple of good lines.

Frank.

Lord Of War. Loved it, although not a fan of Nicolas Cage, he was quite excellent. Marvellous DTS soundtrack also.

A History of Violence - I was waiting for the film to move into areas of subtlety - when, suddenly, it was over.

Cronenberg no longer seems interesting - just mainstream mundanity. A pity.
