You lot are too critical it's a bloody cartoon already, not some intense french film noir.

Having been qualified in this field...I have to disagree.

Even a "normal" cartoon is hard enough to create, let alone the modelling, animation scripting, lighting and rendering techniques that are used in 3D animated films

Just a cartoon indeed!

Harry Potter & the order of the Phoenix.

Difficult to imagine a more turgid waste of time.

I was talking about the popularity not the content per se. People are expecting these "animations" to be high art not populist entertainment which may not have the highest standards of content. Production is a whole different area

LOL!

I was talking about the technical aspect.

Plot-wise most films, er I mean 3D films are...

It's not often we disagree but in this case we do. OK it ain't the greatest film in the world but for this genre it's OK.
Have you seen Over the Hedge? So much hype so much failure.

As petrol heads my son and I enjoyed it, there was quite a bit of "in " stuff. Guess you can't please everyone......etc.

Go out for a day...!

My criticism is not based on plot, skill, direction etc. It's based on the fact that I didn't enjoy the film ....and more to the point neither did my children.

You are, of course, free to think what you like.

I generally REALLY like the Pixar films, I was glad that Rat. was good.

....and yes, Over the Hedge was as bad, if not worse.

Hi Howard,
Cars in my mind was to fast and to loud, for little ones to keep track of what was going on in the film.
Noah likes over the Hedge.

The Page Turner

French thriller with minimal dialogue. Good not so much for what happens, but the understated way in which it is all played out.

The Simpsons Movie

I don't really enjoy The Simpsons that much, although my younger daughter is building quiet a collection. Surprised myself by finding this funny ...and in spectacular 2D.

Court Jester
Classic with Danny Kay on top form. Required viewing!

Over the holidays I watched,

"Murder At The Gallop," "Murder She Said," and "Murder Ahoy!" All from Rutherford as Marple.

"Mr And Mrs Smith." [Incomprehesisible to me, but there it is].

"300," which also made no sense. I was fortunate to have had Ancient History as a siubject at scholl, and as Captain Erikson [Jack Hawkins] says in "The Cruel Sea," "Where the linkage?"

ATB from George

PS: Before Christmas I saw "Leon, The Professional," which seemed to have something going for it, but too much blood as well.

Downfall

A reconstruction of the final days of Hitler.

A powerful piece of cinema that shows the deconstruction of people caught within a situation where they have very limited control, and no future.

The people portrayed are a mixture of the ordinary and the truly awful, yet even the awful are not cyphers, but fully fleshed characters - which makes their decisions and actions even more terrible.

My wife & I found this film very effecting. The portrayal of a civilisation on the brink of destruction opens some interesting thoughts about our own predicament - dancing on the edge of disaster.

Highly recommended.

Apocalypto

Got to say that I HATE the way Gibson mangles history - and so I am not fond of his movies ....but this I enjoyed.

A very straight forward story arc - that I found tremendously effective.

Personally I would have cut the 'premonitions' scene.

This is one I have bought.

So did I Alan - it's an excellent, albeit it somewhat confusing, film!
