Is it just me or do others find the fan on the DVD5 a little noisy. Fortunately it does not come on too often, but when it does I can definitely hear it ... especially during quieter scenes in a movie.

I never turn mine off and also have it stacked on top of an AV2. It doesn't come on often, but when it does I can hear it. I guess it should be on it's own shelf really. Roll Eyes

I leave mine on standby all the time. Mine is on a separate shelf.

Do you mean in standby mode when not in use? Or just left out of standby (ie not in standby mode) all the time?

I leave it in the standby mode all the time, i.e. I rarely ever turn the switch off on the back of the unit.

The fan never comes on when it is in standby. Usually it is about an hour into a movie before it comes on. It usually turns off after a few minutes. Except during quiet passages I don't hear it ... but I definitely do during those scenes. The first time it came on I thought "What is that noise!"

I don't think it has ever come on while playing a CD or DVD-A.

Moved my DVD5 from a lower shelf to the top shelf of my mana stand and now the fan has never come on since.

Since the hot summer weather has come to an end, the fan has not come on ... even during long movies like "Alexander".
