Feedback appreciated.

My three week old AV2 started running warm a couple of days ago - not too hot to touch but definitely warm, and in stark contrast to my CD5 / NAC 112 / FC 2 / NAP 150 none of which ever feel appreciably warm to the touch. The whole case feels warm - including the rotary control knob. It seems to be operating normally, however.

In other users' experience, is this normal?

I also have a buzzing noise when the NAC 112 is set to AV input - not very loud but very different to the relative silence when the input is switched to, say, CD.

Any thoughts?

DL

My Av2 has always been warmer to the touch than any of my other Naim equipment. I think it's normal.

My AV2 has always run warm.
I think a read another thread where the AV2 was described as a 'Hot Box.'

Thanks for all the replies. The only thing recently added was a optical digital connection to an Airport Express. I noticed the warmth the next day. No other changes have been made and the only other input connection is coax digital from a DVD source (cheapo Sony pending arrival of Pioneer blu-ray player).

Curiously, the unit felt cooler after being used for an hour or so than when I left it in standby overnight and rechecked it in the morning - rather warm again.

Would welcome continuing to hear from other users regarding this issue.

In the meantime, another question. I understand that the signal from a source (say, my CD5) connected to my 112 can be fed to the AV2 to allow processing with subsequent multichannel output via the special "2 way" lead that came with the AV2. Didn't see this explained in the manual. How do I actually do this?

Unit may run warmer when processing audio

You need to use the yellow banded 5:5 interconnect lead supplied with the unit

connect from AN3 input on AV2 to the 112 AV input (set unity gain, so that the AV2 controls volume)
