Not sure where to post this, but just connecting up my iPod onto my AV2 and wondered in the next update whether there could be the option to name an input iPod or MP3?

You can customise any input on the AV2 to custom text at the moment. In fact I've got one of mine labelled 'Tivo'.

Hi Roy How do you do that? Maybe we should take this to the "other" Naim forum!!! Henry |

From the DVD5/AV2 manual:
Note: Any three inputs can have a user-defined label of up to seven characters stored. To define a user label, first select the input to be named, say AN1-CO2, ensuring that it is set to its default label, then press and hold either the handset OSD key or both the front panel input and mode buttons. A line of seven dashes will appear in the display. Using the front panel input and mode buttons and the rotary control replace each dash with the desired letter or symbol. Press and hold the handset disp key to clear any stored label. Exit from user label definition by pressing and holding either the handset OSD key or both the front panel input and mode buttons. On exit the input’s default label will change to, say AN1-USR to denote that a user label has been applied. The user label itself will display when the input is selected. Roy. |

That doesn't work on my AV2 Roy. Maybe because I don't have the latest firmware. Think I have 104.

Jay,
That seems strange as I thought this feature was introduced with AVc0104. Can you try it again and check which firmware version you have. Roy. |

Checked it again Roy and no dice on it working and I do have 104.
An explanation "could" be that I had my remote replaced due to a conflict with a Loewe TV at the time. I wonder if that's why it's not working? Holding down the OSD button may not be sending the correct signal. Jay |

Jay,
Have you tried just using the front buttons rather than the remote ? Press and hold the Input button, this puts the inputs into setup mode. Then use the Input or Menu button to cycle through to the input you want to modify and the press and hold the Input and Menu buttons at the same time. This should now give you the row of '-' to configure your own names. Roy. |

Jay,
Just checking, you've held down the input button until you get to the input setup configuration ? i.e. you can turn the dial and the type of the input changes ? Can you check what version firmware you have ? Roy. |

That's right. AV2 is on. Press and hold Input. Cycle to the specific input and then hold down Input and Mode. AV2 turns off. Which is normal behaviour as far as I'm aware. If I press and hold down OSD on the remote I get avc0104 then f658 display. Which I assume means firmware 1.04. Thanks for your help. Naming the input would be very useful. Jay |

Jay,
Don't know if this will help as I have also changed the Remote Codes as I have a Loewe TV. I followed Roy's instructions and as with you the AV2 switched off. The only thing I changed to get it to work correctly was when you set the input to the defult setting do not set it to --- set it to what the input is ie OP1 OP1. |

Jay,
May be worthwhile dropping by your dealers and asking them to put the latest firmware on your unit. Shouldn't take them half n hour and would be worth it to make sure you're up to date. AVc0104's a bit older now. Roy. |

Software version may be AVP104, an earlier version, as opposed to AVc01-04, which was current about eighteen months ago (current version is AVc01-07). Check with your dealer, this update may require a PIC chip change.

Thanks David. Thanks helpful, if not a little confusing. I have avc01-104 not avp104 so I assume I have the new Pic. I'm sure Murph put the new pic in...

AV2 control firmware:-
AV2P209, AVC0101 to AVC0107 use the same PIC. This can be updated with sofware alone. Any firmware with AV2P1xx at the start uses a different PIC type, requiring a new chip and software to update. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Adam Meredith, |

The best update for me would be digital output (it is digitised inside) for your analog sources
