Or rather it is, because I can programme apronto with it. But what it doesn't do is operate the AV2. This seemed to occur whilst setting up the inputs on the AV2 .... halfway through it froze. Changed the batteries for new ones, still no luck. Turned off AV2 and unplugged it, re-started again, still no response from the remote.
So I've tried testing the manual way of using the AV2. Yes it all works except, in programming the inputs, it jumps from VI1 to CO2. Is there a way of re-setting this machine without the remote. Or does this sound like a visit to the service department. Incidentally, if it does need to go back to Naim, I might as well get the firmware updated ...is this out as yet? Regards Allen |

Basically you've managed to set the AV2 up to ignore IR commands and attend to the multi-room port doda on the back.

Himat, thanks for the genius reply, I was all excited this morning at the prospect of restoring my AV2 to full working order.
Going into input setup up manually on the unit, the only choices I'm getting with each press of the button are: 'VI1', 'D', 'W' and 'PAN'. Nothing else. The mode input selector seems fine. The input selector seems scrambled to me. I recall when it all went wrong that 'CO2' was showing a result of 'CO2' and then locked up. I reckon the AV2 will need a trip back to Naim. I was hoping that someone here may have had the quick fix answer. Regards Allen |

This was a good post. I also similar trouble programming my AV2: the darned thing would skip inputs and not let me program VI1 and VI2 for multichannel audio. The truly bizarre bit is that I tried 5 or 6 times in a row, and on my last attempt it worked properly. I have absolutely no explanation for why it worked on the last attempt.
Take note Naim - let's hope this is corrected in the new firmware upgrade. |

I think a call to naim technical be your next choice. ( There must be a reset to factory setting without the handset ). regards Himat |

Well after a very helpful conversation with Naim (thanks Adam) I have the solution from them.
In fact, Himat, you was very close to the mark, with the use of the remote. BTW, from the manual you can also reset by holding the display button in. All this was no use to me as the AV2 was not responding to any button press on the remote. To do a factory reset on the AV2 without a remote:- 1) Switch Off. 2) Hold in 'Input' & 'Mode' on the front right hand side of the AV2 and switch back on. 3) The display will now read 'UPDATE'. 4) Release the buttons and switch unit off again and then back on again. You will now be in default set up mode. Of course, you will have lost all of your settings and you will need to re-program them in. Hope this helps anyone caught in the same predicament as me, should this ever occur. Regards Allen |
