Dave Don't know about Nvi, but my 42" panasonic outputs from RCAs to the a/v input on my 552, so I have stellar tv/dvd sound and DAB on demand too (though the NAT05 is still much the better sound for radio).

I have had the 37" panny for some time now, even on freeview the picture quality is stunning on most channels, though I do live in a strong signal area, the sound is average, though put through my Nait it is much better! Dave
The best current Plasma TV available is the Pioneer 428 which costs £1800 and works very well with the n-Vi. It is the best by a long way. The Panasonic is probably 2nd best and is closer to your budget. It's good but doesn't have the depth of black that the Pioneer has, which impacts dark scenes (very common nowadays).

whats the tv to buy if I dont want to see floating pixels and boxes of black or eyebrows being left behind the action.. Is this an inherrent fault with these tvs..

can't say i get that with the pany. Yeah sure if the bit rate is poor - setanta sport and i stand really close - it looks poor. But most channels and DVD playback, for the money i have no complaints.
It's pretty simple - if you want a perfect TV - forget looking - there isn't one!
I ultimately chose the TH42PX70 because I will be using it with a surround system and there is no need to pay for the advanced sound system that comes with the PZ70. The other bells and whistles were not of any real interest to me and did not persuade me to spent the additional money. It will be a number of years before I embrace full HD so this TV represented the optimum picture quality and price package for me. I even managed to land a 5 year extended waranty.
If you are not in a hurry - I recommend very highly Panasonic's next series of Plasmas, based upon demonstrations at CES two weeks ago. They have had s significant jump in black levels and I regret buying a 700 series two months ago - to be frank I am very happy with it, but with 35000:1 native contrast and over 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast, the 800 series due this May/June is outstanding. Thanks for all the suggestions. I went for the TH42PX70 in the end and it seems to work great with the NVi. Only problem is that I use a Hauppauge MVP as a MythTV frontend for recorded stuff.
The Panny doesn't seem to like the "Sync on Green" RGB signal from the MVP so everything looks like "The Incredible Hulk". OK, SoG is a legacy issue but most TVs seem to handle it fine. Not sure what the solution is yet, but it doesn't look straightforward!
I probably do have to buy it sooner rather than later as we are having work done in our lounge which needs the TV attached to the wall, and my current 32" CRT won't look right on the wall!
I will be also running the sound through my hifi so the sound isn't important so the PX range may be more suitable.
My parents just bought a 50" Samsung for £700, list price was just under twice that, and it looks very impressive indeed for a £700 screen, it's got a WHF 5 stars on it too, and they presumably reviewed it at full price, not that I trust WHF particularly! Anyway if you want to stay under a grand I'd shop around, you'd be surprised what you can get for your money!!!
