We now have our second n-Vi and thought things were going okay, but now I am not so sure. The remote control seems to have died (and yes, we have checked the batteries) after just a month. Has anyone else had this problem?

1)press white "DVD" button on remote once
2)press and hold "open" and "subt" buttons
3)whilst holding those, press "1"

this will set the remote back to default system code.

Right, thanks. Well, now I can get the remote to turn the box on or off but it still won't alter "input" or the volume...

Do the same again but this time press the AV button instead of the DVD button first.

1)press white "AV" button on remote once
2)press and hold "open" and "subt" buttons
3)whilst holding those, press "1"

My husband has just told me that although the n-Vi box is our second one, the remote is the original one that was supplied with the first n-Vi. Does this make a difference? Is it more or less liable to be a problem? And why do I still feel like throwing the whole contraption out of the window and going back to the kitchen portable tv with mono sound?!!

Thank you AV@naim. (My previous post crossed with yours by the way). Having followed your second set of instructions, our remote now seems to be okay, phew. I think this little incident does for me at any rate, point up once again the need for a user manual (as distinct from a technical set-up manual) which we have never had and which doesn't seem to exist. Naim customers may be a technically able group but not all the people who use the equipment (ie who didn't choose it in the first place and wouldn't have done in a million years, not because it isn't wonderful but because they just don't need that level of sophistication) are of the same calibre. It doesn't mean we're lacking in intelligence, I hasten to add, just lacking in interest. (My husband hasn't read my new cooker's user manual because he's not interested! But neither of us has bothered with the installation instructions because the electrician took care of it. You take my point I'm sure.)
