Hi
I have an DVD player connected to my AV2 using an optical fiber link. Sometime, I lost the 5.1 signal. I have a great noise in the speaker and my av2 fall down in stereo mode, and I have no more sound ! The only way to retrieve the signal is to switch off and swith on the DVD player. I had this problem with several disc in DTS or Dolby Surround mode. I changed the fiber link, still same problem. I have changed the DVD player but the same problem occurs again. Now I'm trying to use the coax digital input to see if it solves the problem. Has anyone encountered the same problem ? Thanks for your help |

You should probably update you AV2 firmware.
Check your version by pressing and holding the OSD button on the remote. Note the digits on the AV2 display and tell us what you read. If you prefer help in french, send me a PT. Emmanuel Euphonie All opinions are my own, and reflect those of the organisation i work for, even if not stipulated. |

Emmanuel,
I will check that this week-end when I come back home. What should be the last firmware version ? If I have to update it, where could I find the procedure to follow. Should I connect a laptop to the AV2 through the RS232 port ? Thanks |

You will need to take the AV2 back to your dealer to have the firmware updated unluckily. Have you tried a digital co-ax cable instead of the fibre link? From what I've been told, this gives better sound than the optical link. I use the optical link for my PS2 and that's it. Regards, Steve. |

Steve,
I have connected this week-end the AV2 with a coax cable. Until now, the problem has not happened again, but I have to make some more tests to be sure that the problem is gone. Thanks Patrice |

Patrice,
Definately worthwhile checking the firmware version on the AV2, I think very early ones had difficulty locking back onto signals. All the later firmware has no problems with this at all. It's a very simply upgrade, but something you probably want done at the dealers. Roy. |

Roy,
What is strange is that I buyed the AV2 only two months ago. I was assuming that it was not containing an old firmware version. Another thing is that this problem appears suddenly after one month of use during which it was working perfectly with the fiber connection. Regards Patrice |

Hmmm
In this part of the world, AV2's are a VERY expensive item. For what it undoubtedly cost, and given the prestige etc attached to it, this should NOT be happening IMHO if it is a problem within the AV2. If the problem is within the AV2, I'd be sending/taking it back to the dealer and politely asking them to fix it, or replace it. As to firmware - why should you pay to be a beta tester? At the cost involved in purchase, it should be right first time, and every time. Just my 2c worth of course, and IMHO as always. Best John... This is my last upgrade.... after this my system will be finished...:-) |

Patrice,
I think that means you are running the last but one firmware version. This is a pretty good version as far as I am aware. The latest version is only *just* out I believe. Your problem may have been related to the optical lead perhaps. I have only ever used a coax cable with my AV2 and that's not had any problems. Roy. |

patrice,
quote: Take the AV2 to the dealer who sold it to you and get it sorted there. If you have done all of the above, & tried with a different optical link cable, there would appear to be a problem, especially as it was working correclty to start with. |
