is there a re-mastered version of this fab. film. I recently got the trilogy from HMV for about a 'tenner', but the pic. quality on part is showing it's age (which i quite like in an old style kind of way) but have they ever re-mastered it and cleaned up the pic. quality?? If so...where to get hold of it?

Hi paul i have the 4 dvd box set.
They have put a 5.1 dolby dig sound track on the film.
It was shot the way you see to give it that old real life look in parts.

cheers munch. Don't have 5.1 capability so i'll have to stick with what i've got.

A lot of part one was shot in very low light to give a Caravaggio-like chiaroscuro effect. I either heard or read that Coppola admitted he had perhaps pushed this too far at times hence some of the scenes are a bit grainy, which might be what you're seeing.
