I don't know if this should be placed here or in the Home Theatre section. If it is in the wrong section then I apologize.

I'm under pressure from my good lady to reduce the black box count. I figured I could replace my Arcam DV79 DVD player and AVR 250 with an n-Vi but this would probably cost about £1800 and only save 1 box. She has since seen that an FM module can be fitted to the n-Vi and figures this could replace my NAT 01 also. Thus reducing the cost and reducing the total box count by one.

What I am trying to get around to, in long winded way, is has anybody heard the quality of the FM module on the n-Vi and is it any good? I don't expect it to be anywhere near the quality of the 01 but is it say anywhere close to a 05 or a 03?

Have you considered the alternative option ?

Change your good lady for a different model that likes black boxes. That way, you'll not have to worry about how to get the box count down, but on where to get the money to buy all those new boxes from ? :-)

A far nicer problem to have.

The n-Vi's tuner sound quality is actually quite decent for a DSP-based tuner, though your mileage may vary depending on quality of local broadcasts.

I've set my NAT05 off to the side for now, as the n-Vi's sound quality is decent enough to re-purpose the empty Fraim shelf for use under the CD player.
