We know that the Cinemateq will only accept interlace signal for processing so DVI output is out of the question. The DVD5 SCART output analogue interlaced signal and so I thought this will work perfectly with the Cinemateq as it has a SCART input. Thus the connection DVD5-SCART>Cinemateq-SCART>DVI out>Projector

The "Naim" logo OSD appears but as soon as I play a DVD, the video image scrolls horizontally across the screen. As soon as I select "setup" on the remote control, the image stabilises but the horizontal scrolling starts again as soon as I exit the setup menu on the DVD5.

Anyone has this experience and how do I resolve this?

The SCART output on RGB seems to turn on when the "setup" menu is activated on DVD5 (this is confirmed on the projector OSD that shows what signal is being received) but for some reason the RGB signal is turned off when I exit the "setup" menu. This is despite the fact that I have set the SCART output to "on" in the menu. As soon as the "setup" menu exit, the projector indicated "no signal". At this time, I believe the SCART output S-Video signal. I am saying this because the signal is restalled as soon as I turn on the "S-Video" selection in the setup menu despite the fact that I did not connect S-Video cables between DVD5 and Scaler and thus the S-Video signal must have been channelled through the SCART output.

How does one locked into the RGB signal on SCART?

I think a few of the outputs are somehow tied together. On mine I played around with turning the unused outputs off, but in the end just left them all on as it didn't seem to work exactly as I thought it would.

Interlaced setting: SCART and S-video

If you turn off the "interlaced output" in the menu you will only see a picture on these ouptuts (SCART/S-video) when the menu is displayed.

The DVD5 SCART socket is set (voltage-wise) to the SCART specifications, if you connect a device that is asking for more than the specified current, you may get odd results.

Yes, when all the output signals (DVI, SCART, S-Video etc) in the "Video output off" menu are turned off, a signal is still available via SCART when the setup menu is accessed. I guess this is to allow user to see the OSD in order to make selections.

Naim engineer has since contacted me. He thinks that the problem lie in an out of date firmware in the DVD5. I will wait for an updated code and see if it resolves the problem. Thanks for the quick response and excellent customer service at Naim.
