I've just got a 32" LCD and I see its standby power consumption is 1W (compared to 160W when its on). To me this standby consumption sounds pretty low thereby not worth turning it off at the wall over night?
Comments please. ta B |

Brucie,
On its own, this doesn't sound excessive, but it depends on what else you have in standby in your house, given the current "green" climate -this site allows you put in your own values an calculate:- http://www.ukpower.co.uk/running-costs-elec.asp |

As above it isn't the individual users power consumption, it is the combined power consumption of ALL users.
The 'green' idea is to educate everyone to cut/remove their unnecessary small amounts of waste energy so as the grand total of saved energy is actualy an enormous contribution. |

When we control the sun spots to prevent global warming it will have more effect. In the mean time keep your stuff on stand by (if you can afford the power costs of course).

Thanks for the replies. I thought it sounded rather low. All my other Naim kit is left on though.
I'm tending to leave it on standby because it does not have an ON/OFF switch on the TV itself. I have to either unplug it out the back of the TV or on the wall. ta B |
