Hiya all,

I've been trying to calibrate my AV2, the hardest thing as always is getting the blance right between music playback and movies.

I've been reading the manual but cant seem to find the info on what i need.

Does anyone know if you can set up stereo mode with one lot of settings for music and likewise do the same for the DVD mode (DD+DTS)?

Thanks all

Hi Twan & welcome.
If I have understood your question correctly..

You are using your Av2 as a pre amp for your Hi Fi? If so, fine the volume knob will operate as usual. ie, set to whatever level you require.

When you use the Av2 for movies, it can be set for those seperately. To do this it is far better to use a seperate sound level meter and follow the full setup procedure in the manual, setting each speakers distance size & volume independantly.
A lot depends on what amps you are using for your fronts, rear surrounds and centre?
When setup on Naim amps with 'unity gain' the volume knob on the AV2 then acts as a master control for the whole system.

hi steve,

yep, using the av2 as the pre amp too. i have an av2, with 2x 150s + v175. (7.1 setup)

I have used an spl metre to calibrate it for movies (which sounds fantastic) but sometimes on music i think it needs adjusting (especially the sub) i dont use pure direct mode as im using m&k speakers so i can adjust all properties of each speaker. i only use the front 2 speakers + sub. Is there a way to change settings in stereo mode only or will it automatically then change the teh settings in the 'movie' modes?

Why not set up the sub as you want it in stereo, then using that as the 'baseline' as the setup for surround use the AV2 to alter the volume output to the level you require by adding or subtracting from the basic setup commands?
If not, (I do not use my rig in the same configuration as yours) then I would imagine that altering the sub each time you switch from one mode to another is likely.
