I am thinking of changing around the living space and putting my HiFi speakers either side of the LCD TV.

Would the speakers have to be magnetically shielded to enable this, i.e.to prevent picture degradation or does this CRT 'rule' not apply to LCD TV's?

It'll be fine - the CRT 'rule' does not apply to LCD TVs.

Saying that the instructions with my new JVC specifically show a magnet with a line through it in the don't do's.
It would appear my SBLs don't effect this tv like they did with the crt which had a definate colour shadow in one of the corners.
