Always been an interesting artist .

As usual BBC Scotland has it on an hour later than BBC England-shire .

the guy is really smart but I saw a show of his in LA and a number of later pieces I really didn't like, those quick portraits with glaring red and green, ugh!

Then he turns around and does something stunning. I like his small intimate works, drawings and such.

It was an excellent program - it was also on a very appropriate day as it was the day that the Chav TV arrived and it definitely helped to reduce the criticism of the ugly black lump

I enjoy looking at his very large pictures, over time I have seen several of his Grand Canyon pictures including the "A Bigger Grand Canyon", several swimming pool pictures as well of those of his dogs.

It is well worth a trip to Bradford to his gallery at Saltaire (assuming it is still there)

I'm not a great art fan, but was pleasantly surprised by the programme. That series of pictures at the end,with the "sketches"of trees interwoven with photographs, were amazing.

Does anyone know where the huge picture (or at least one of them) are now?

Did anyone go and sit through his film Splash in the 70s??

Hockney is incredibly prolific and his style (and quality) has varied hugely.

The permanent exhibition here in the 1853 Gallery in Salts Mill, Bradford opened my eyes a lot to his work. The series of pictures of his ageing mother are quite affecting. It is also a lovely gallery space in a great building with plenty of other things to see. Sweet website too.

Well worth a visit (and just round the corner is a really nice bike shop too).

You can tell this is one of my favourite places!

There was a Documentary the other month showing how Hockney had worked out how artist from around the Renaissance could create such life like portraits. He worked out that they traced their subject matter through glass and then lenses projected into a darkened room similar to how a pin hole camera works. Really fascinating Hockney is an artist that can turn his hand to any style he tries and makes it unique to him.

Just managed to find time to watch last weeks Imagine program . I thought it was fascinating .
What an interesting man and some wonderful work .

He is really fun and is so prolific, Certainly doesn't stick to one thing, keeps changing things.

I did a project for the forest service in Santa Barbara, my boss had me make a display I used the photo collage on small scale to show a ravine. My boss wanted me to cut the odds and ends out to make it a rectangle. UGH!, I said "haven't you seen Hockney?" and he looked at me like 'what the hell?' I left it that way and got great comments from others.

My temp job didn't last, but the boss was forced to retire a year later or they'd fire him for not working with others well and other infractions. My art work is more fun than trying to please someone else.
