How disappointing there was no postcard from Mrs Trellis of North Wales.

An unforgivable oversight. Does that mean we need to re-run the game?

Almost certainly. But it's very bad form to play the same variation twice running even in such circumstances. If someone else wants to pick one....

Having consulted the rules (obviously only the shortened version as seen at - http://www.isihac.co.uk/games/mcvariations/index.html)

I would strongly suggest MORTIMER’s 2nd AMENDMENT
This is a highly specialised version of the game, which once Parsons Green has been declared forces play along the Great Western axis, obliging players to sacrifice Seven Sisters in order to prise open their opponent’s laterals.

If anyone is in agreemnet, then I would suggest an opening gambit of:

Wood Green

Important Announcement - actually a station announcement.

At Tate Britain in the exhibition entitled
"Modern Painters - The Camden Town Group" there are references to the this great transportation hub in at least two images - a postcard showing the station in it's early days and at least one painting shoing the station when it was alongside a park.

Now back to the important matter in hand.

Enormously funny - please do not disturb the players.

Two threads, now that's just confusing. What's more Adam, this is the second time you've split a thread I've started - I'm going to start taking it personally soon! Winker

Ah well.

Ladbroke Grove. Cunning, that boxes everyone in somewhat. Gray's Inn Road.

A real MC expert would know the importance of this question...

"Gruntfuttock's Posture" , in which the moves of the game are retrospectively altered in order to favour one player or another - also known as "editing the broadcast tape"

...which as moderator you could do Adam..fancy throwing away a chance to fiddle the result. Humph would be most disappointed.

I must confess, it's been a while since I've played Mortimer's 2nd (it rather went out of fashion following the debacle at the 1990 world championships). So you'll have to forgive me if I'm a little rusty.

Aldgate.

Ah, now, an interesting move. Is that Wood Lane circa 1908 (now closed) or the new Wood Lane due to open in late 2008 to serve the new shopping centre in White City? Either way this seems to be a contentious deployment of the Wellsian clause and would I be right in saying inadmissable whilst playing under Mortimer's 2nd Amendment unless prior agreement is obtained from the other participants (albeit nicely played along the Great Western Axis)?

In view of this I move that 555 is forced to reconsider this ploy and play an outlying branch line station (check before you travel), say Chesham, by way of forfeit.

In which case I now put forward Paddington.
