Ah Jim has been buying

David Norris from Plymouth
Stephen Bywater from Derby
Velice Sumulikoski from Bursaspor

out on loan to Falkirk are

Shane Supple and Billy Clarke

It does look as if we are planning for the future - Jim has signed some class acts, lets hope they deliver.

Scotty

Yes I know its points that count - I remember Kenny Dalglish explaining that the best way to win the league was to get more points than the other teams - however, we are the Tractor Boys and we never do anything the easy way and we never compromise the way we play - I'm pleased we are going in the right direction and have the best manager around. At the moment we are not good enough to gain automatic promotion, but it's coming ....

BTW good win you had the other night.

A young lad Jamie Stevens from Crawley Town has been trialled as well, don't know whether he bought him.

Yes I know he was on trial, but not sure how it went.

We have also sold goalkeeper Neil Alexander to Glasgow Rangers and bought Republic of Ireland international Nick Colgan has joined Town on a short term contract until the end of the season to replace him.

Winger Jamie Peters has gone on loan to Yeovil - where he'll play with Sir Marcus Stewart - what a player.

ARSENAL 2 TOWN 3
Sat 26 Jan 2008

Not many clubs can claim a double over Arsenal this season - but Blues can. Jack Ainsley's penalty gave Town a 1-0 win over the Gunners at Portman Road in October and Blues completed the double on Saturday. Goals from Jordan Rhodes, Jai Reason and Ainsley gave Town a 3-2 win.

Yes yes yes - at last, I had begun to think an way win was like a Unicorn and didn't really exist.

You ain't seen nothing like the mighty Quinn - what a debut goal .... and a great winner from Super Alan Lee.

We couldn't match the bully boys from Watford and we have to learn to overcome team who use physical presence to overcome our purist football approach.

I am glad I only have to watch Watford twice a year - I feel sorry for Watford fans if they have to watch that style (or lack of style) every week. I know they say it is all about winning and good luck to them, but I'm sure glad Jim is our manager and encourages us to try to win the Ipswich way even if it doesn't always work.

The irony is the team that played the best football of any team visiting Portman Road this season (S***thorpe) may be relegated - it'd be sad to see that.

Is that a crafty plug for a newspaper column? Big Grin

Well it's off to the Palace tomorrow, but I don't think I'll catch that one.

We can't stop winning away, we can't stop winning away ....

I couldn't make it to the match tonight, but ... away, we can't stop winning away ....

now lets get that home form right Smile

Palace 0 Tractor Boys 1

Town made it two away wins in succession thanks to a Danny Haynes deflection just before half-time. He wasn't in the starting line-up until an ankle injury to Alan Quinn in the warm-up saw him promoted from the bench and he took advantage with the winner, not that he knew much about it, the striker deflecting in Richard (Bam Bam) Naylor's volley.

Sorry Palace fans (Steve) - it is just I can't believe our recent away form.

Bristol City hold the second automatic place and we beat them 6-0 so we've got to believe we have a chance.

... away, we can't stop winning away ....

Thanks, but I think we need to improve a lot if that is going to happen - still I think we have more chance of being in the Premier League next year than Derby County - I wouldn't want to go up and emulate Derby, I'd prefer to do what we did in 60/61 and 61/62 - go up and win it Big Grin

BTW Jim has loaned out two more players: Dean Bowditch to Brighton (again) and Gary Roberts to Crewe - our squad is very small.

I noticed Lee Bowyer's red card has been withdrawn - apparently sliding across the pitch and making no contact with the opposing player - in fact not being anywhere near him is no longer a red card offence. Next walking out on the pitch looking like Lee Bowyer will not be a bookable offence either Smile Still at least they got it right in the end, this time.

I'm too young to remember that! But my father-in-law speaks about it with pride. And all with knee-length canvas shorts, Brylcreemed hair and footballs as hard and heavy as an anvil. Those were the days! And 1978, of course!

Neil Warnock is great bloke IMHO

Of our win at the Palace, Jim said

Danny Haynes is claiming the goal and rightly so and he gave us a good shift after coming in for Alan Quinn, who turned his ankle in the warm up. Neil Warnock was great in letting us make the change. He didn't have to do that because Alan was down on the team-sheet to play.

So I'd like to add my thanks, FWIW, to Crystal Palace and their very sporting manager and supporters.
