The new investor should ensure our return to the Premiership - just so long as Jim doesn't follow in George Burley's footsteps and buy overpriced hasbeens in January! I'd be happier hanging on to the cash and trying to get promotion with the existing squad. Anyway I'll just be happy if the new owner is on hand to watch us smash the Budgies this weekend!

I've also been asked a question by one of my work colleagues. Is there a formal link/MOU between Ipswich and Brighton? We've noticed a lot of Ipswich players going there on loan or in the case of some of our recent triallists, having a shot with Brighton after the Blues have run the eye over them? Thoughts, opinions, facts?

C'mon the Suffolk Punch!

regards,

Giles

A great first half against those Squawkers (which I listen to on the radio), but a rubbish second half (which I saw on TV). Yet another 2 points thrown away - this is third time it has happened this season. Let's hope we can recover from this and remain focused for Tuesday night.

BTW referee Rob Styles was hopeless IMO - too many cards and disallowed our third goal.

The new investment sounds good, but I really don't want to see us buying expensive players - I'm happy with the set we've got and think today's second half was just a blip (I hope so).

I'm not aware with any link with the Seagulls (Brighton) - Colchester once seemed to have lots of old players - I just think it happens.

Nice of you to say so, but 1 point from two away games against fairly mediocre opposition doesn't bode well - we're fine at home, but useless away.

Everyone's beating Bryan Robson's lot and then when it's our turn - nothing. I thought we'd be OK when I heard Jon Walters had equalised, but we ran out of steam towards the end and not for the first time.

I saw the Chelsea game tonight they were very lucky not to of had lots of balls in the back of there net. There side just looked a sleep.
So its not just your lot.
I should of had the pool on, loads of good goals.
That player with the long pony tail was brill.
and three for one of our old players, we should not of sold IMO.

Not a bad performance this weekend - our finishing could have been a bit better, but I suppose at 6-0 we mustn't grumble.

Of course, John Walters was magnificent and his superb hat-trick was one of the best I've ever seem. It was like John Wark at his best.

Pablo Cunargo was supreme again - everything he did was effective and his goal was stunning - jog in to box, shrug aside one player. ease past two more, wait for defenders to position themselves for a cross, and pass ball in to net.

I thought the goal by David Wright was the pick of the bunch - he started the move and just kept going and arrived in the box to meet Alan Lee's superb cross with a bullet of a header.

I'm sure Bristol City will have better days, but they didn't look like a team near the top.

Now - we need to take this form on the road - no more lacklustre performance like the one against those squawkers or not turning up like at Sheffield.

Rumour has it that Jim will have £12m to spend in the transfer window - but it needs to spent cautiously - remember Chelsea paid £30m for Ukrainian who wouldn't have made it in to this weekend's Bristol City side - so money is not a passport to success.

We've really got to improve our away performances - not only to stand a chnace of going up, but staying up.

I think this is one place George went wrong. Having built a real team to get us up, it was then "we're in the Premiership and need lots of expensive [overseas] players..." It's not just a case of throwing money; the money's got to be directed correctlt!

A bit of wasted trip to see Town players perform like England internationals - yes it wasn't pretty. Cardiff are not an easy side to play against - a bit Bolton like (well Bolton of a season or so back). We did hit the post and have one off the line, but we no more deserved anything from this match than England deserved to be in Euro 2007. Not much else to say really - we play better at home than away. If we could sort out our away performances we'd win the division, but it seems like we can't so we won't.

Well I couldn't get the match tonight, but another home victory - this time over Southampton with goals by Jon Walters and Pablo Couñago. So it's up to fourth now.

I saw bits of the game last night.
You had a bit of luck with the two goals.
But we all need that now and again.

We were lucky to beat S'ton last year - still we've had a bad luck this year too - we really should have won at Burnley, however, the ref gave our third goal offside, the linesman signalled Pablo offside with his white stick.

Well, next up The Tykes - should be a good match.

Well I don't blame the Tykes - they cam for a point and they got it - a huge defensive wall that blocked our efforts all day and when we did break through the Barnsley goalkeeper (Heinz Muller) was immense.

Mind you they broke forward a few times and Neil Alexander was able to show what a superb goalkeeper he is.

Disappointed we couldn't force our 13th home win on the bounce, but looking forward the start of new run that I hope will last even longer - and a few away wins, starting at Bristol City on Tuesday.

Portsmouth and Portman Road in the Cup - I think we can beat them, but not sure we've got the squad for a long cup run.
