Good set of results of all round - except for that one in Budgie land.

3-0 to the Tractor Boys, and above the Budgies again (at least for a bit). Who said mid-table mediocrity couldn't be as exciting as fighting it out at the top...???!

Yes James: we're almost safe now after beating the Pilgrims 3-0.

The sending off was a bit harsh and as it was after only a couple of minutes, it may have affected the result. Still managers often say it can be more difficult to play against 10, but we did it well. I know how Plymouth feel because we had a player sent off against Watford for nothing and that's cost us a trip to Wembley.

Jim said The referee wasn't going to give a foul but the linesman flagged. No one wants to see a player sent-off and I thought the red card was harsh but we have been on the end of those decisions this season. I don't think it would have mattered if Plymouth had 11 men on the pitch. They wouldn't have stopped the first two goals which were excellent. I thought we were well worth the two goal lead at the break but I was disappointed that we didn't carry on our play in the second-half. Credit to Plymouth. They gave it a real go and penned us back but we knew they would tire and Danny Haynes exploited that late on. His pace caused them problems and he took his goal well. I was also pleased for Ian Miller. It was his debut and a proud moment for him and I'm delighted for the lad.

Good early Owen Garvin goal, curling shot, followed by another Alan Lee goal after good work by Owen Garvan and Jon Walters, put us in control of the game after only 15 minutes. Danny Haynes went on one of his maze-like runs just before the final whistle to shoot home in style.

Perhaps, we just need a good long rest between games, these internationals do some good after all.

Nice to see our East Anglian rivals win again too - I refer to Colchester United, of course, 3-0 against some team in yellow.

Our mission now must be to get as far ahead of those budgies as possible.

Next up another home match against the Tykes.

Yes - Jim will be manager next season: he's doing a grand job IMO - but if Mr Sheepshanks would like to move on then .....

BTW we'll do our best to stop Derby in a couple of weeks time. I don't think they are as good as their position suggests and I'd expect the Black Cats and Brum to be the top two.

An excellent performance and a good win against the Tykes.

A hatful of goals: Gary Roberts, George O'Callaghan, Danny Haynes, Franny Jeffers and Jon Walters. Four goals in the last 10 minutes (include one for Barnsley). It was the Danny and Franny show towards the end. Sorry, Tykes - I really do hope we can do you good turn before the season's end.

Good results all round for everybody's teams. I'd just love it if Town could now go on a winning run - mainly because after our next match against the Owls, we're home to Derby and then away at the budgies and then Leeds (now I would really like us to do The Tykes a favour, and anybody else at the bottom a good turn, by winning at Elland Road, surely one of those games where the performance is irrelevant and only the result matters).

I think young Jim is really getting it together now.

Still as Stevenson may have said, but I admit I can find no reference to it, at least the budgies lost. Ironically, we are now one point from safety and victory against Derby will ensure Championship football at Portman Road next year. And next year, things will be different .....

BTW when Jon Walters and George O'Calaghan were our best two players against Barnsley, did Jim drop them to the bench .... answers on a cup final ticket to ......

Derby County for the Premiership - they're having a laugh . The Rams tried to kick seven bells out of us and their goalkeeper assaulted our centre-half and .... well we played the football and we won the game: simple as that. No complaints about the Derby goal - the one bit of class they showed in 90 minutes, but we thoroughly deserved to win and by a bigger margin than the score-line suggests.

Superb equalising goal from Franny and the winner from Danny on the spot after he was fouled in the area - yes it was the Danny and Franny show again - although they weren't on the pitch together. Very impressed with Jon Walters - another excellent performance. In fact the whole team played well.

Jim said: I'm so proud of my players after that performance. We dominated the play and deserved the three points. It was a terrific display from everyone. We started the game at a high tempo and carried that on all the way through the 90 minutes, even though it was very warm out there. The fans played their part. It was a terrific atmosphere, one of the best this season and we need that sort of backing to drive us on. The players appreciate that support. Franny showed Premiership class all the way through and deserved his goal. He was dangerous every time he got the ball and must have had five or six shots at goal. I wasn't sure it was going to be his day but he came up with an important goal for us..

I didn't think we played as well as we did against the Tykes, but we were good enough. Let's hope we can carry this form in to next season.

...Believe me ROTF it's a wonder you didn't hear the noise that greeted the news of your result today at the SOL ..At first the stadium announcer said "It's 1-1 at Portman Road" (which was greeted with generally loud cheering) followed about 1 minute later with "hang on it's just finished at Ipswich and Derby have lost! 2-1" ..cue sheer noise + delirium!! ..Obviously I haven't seen the highlights yet but the radio reports I heard backed up your view of the game. Derby (like WBA last night) seem to have lost the plot.

I guess most fans (initially inc many SAFC followers) thought Roy Keane would been the "Manager Most Likely To blow a Gasket" this season ...the reality has been totally different ...looking cool isn't half the Keane story...he just stares occasionally if a pass is misplaced (but when Roy stares ...!) .and sorry for mentioning this on 2 threads now but ...Derby's Billy Davies is proving to be a complete liability!

..We beat them 2-1 some weeks ago ..after bossing the entire game bar a 15 min Derby 2nd half purple patch (and I've watched SAFC long enough to know when we've genuinely been battered) Davies was full of spite and bile at the after-match press conference claiming "we were the only team in it" (they tried kicking us a few times as well!) how many times has Davies been sent to the stands this season?

...I accept that all managers will appear biased after certain games but (mebbe's it's just the pressure of trying to reach the hallowed Premiership) this season I haven't half heard some rubbish ... cue WBA's Tony Mowbray after we beat them 2-0 at the Hawthorns " "If that's the best they can do I know who'll have the most points at the end of the season"

..No reason why Ipswich can't be right up there next season ..you've always been a side that plays football and Reading + Wigan are an example of what can be done on relatively meagre resources.

It's good to see Sunderland at the top because they are the best team in the Championship and they've got there by doing it right.

I'm also a great admirer of Niall Quinn and his recent gesture at Bristol Airport was typical of the man (Niall Quinn's taxi cabs are the best) - just goes to show: Nice guys can win.

Yes indeed, all the best for Sunderland - I've kept half an eye on them since Marcus Stewart went up there.

Now, for those Blues. Clearly the main target for these last few games of the season is WIN, WIN, WIN, to make sure we finish above the budgies. Where I live, that'll give me a deep sense of joy!
