I've got to clean an 8yr old Micra to hand over to my niece and keep my own car clean and tidy. I want a cleaner, liquid or aerosol, that'll shift the dirt but NOT leave a shine or a perfume smell. I used to use Minute Clean which was excellent but is no longer available and Porsche Cockpit cleaner which was expensive and you can only buy it at a Porsche dealer.
I've just tried a couple of Autoglym products, Interior Shampoo which didn't shift the dirt and has a horrible perfume and Plastic and Rubber Cleaner which not only smells but leaves a shine behind.

Anyone know of a good product please?

John;

As you say, yer average 'Cockpit Shine' turns what should be a matt surface into a glossy surface and leaves a ghastly smell.

I always use a clean 'J Cloth' and a bucket of water with a dash of Fairy Liquid. Wipe over and dry it straight off with a towel.

Works fine for me - basic, cheap and effective.

John.

I'd look for one of the spray on foams cleaners that Maplin sell (Servisol brand usually), they're mostly geared at computer cleaning but will work on pretty much any plastic - spray on, leave, come back when it's disolved and eaten into the grime, and wipe off.

They do smell but it's not a perfume, it's because that much chemical has to smell of something Smile

"foam cleaners that Maplin sell"
Ah! I do have a couple of cans of similar stuff I'll give them a go.
I can just about manage with a quick wipe on my car as it's only a year old, but the Micra's 8ys old though it only has 10K on the clock and I think it's been cleaned before with that glossy stuff.

Btw many thanks for the answers so far.

I have previously used Cif cream to both clean dashboards etc. and also found it worked well to remove the horrible glossy finish caused by those rather naff cleaners.....
Cif cleans the ingrained dirt and leaves the surface nice and matt Smile
Use a soft cloth.
