HI
I would appreciate some help. I have a Nikon F65 with 28-80 f3.5-5.6D lense. I have seen a Nikon 80-200 f4.5-5.6D lense for £95, I was wondering if this was good value or would I be better getting a similar Tamron or Sigma lense for less money. I am a novice and it would be for general use but mainly portraits. Thanks Spence |

Hello Alex95,
Optically there would be little difference between the independents and Nikon's own lens - in fact this lens could well be made for Nikon by Sigma or Tamron and "badged up" The Tamron or Sigma may be slightly more robust but unless you ever intend to use an unprotected camera & lens in a hostile environment (Rock climbing for example)then it would probably not be an issue. Personally, as a Nikon user I would out of loyalty go with their own brand every time. If you go to www.nikonlinks.com and scroll down to the lens section, there are lots of reviews and, as in this forum, there are many contrasting opinions. Be seeing you Ron |
