I'm doing a play at the moment in my local theatre. We are struggling to find a good web resource for some sound effects, in particular various bit of birdsong, flapping wings, helicopter blades and firework explosions!

Has anyone got any ideas where i might get some on the web? I've had a quick search so far but come up with very little. Needs to be free!

Cheers

Bruce

The local library often has tapes (or perhaps CDs these days) with sound effects for just this purpose. They were/are also used by amateur cine and video film makers.

I'd be astonished if there was a good free substitute for the bbc's essential sound effects library (a wonderful series of cds). I used to use them all the time in the theatre at school. Essential 'death and horror' is particularly graphic! The birdsong volume is also good.

regards,
