My one-thousandth post! Wow!

How did I get here I wonder?

The only posts I can remember making are all pretty inane dribble to be honest, and I’m sure I’ve taken far more from this forum than I’ve ever given. I’ve certainly made lots of very good friends and had an absolutely spiffing time meeting folks and talking music with them.

I’ve now reached the stage where I’m very content with my present system; many thanks for all the excellent advice I’ve received from folks far more knowledgeable than I on matters Hi-Fi.

Regrettably I now feel it’s time for me to move on to pastures new. My other twin hobbies – jam jar emptying and invisible-thread embroidery- continue to consume more of my passion. So, many thanks for your good company, and adieu!

This is my final posting and when, many hundreds of years in the future, this Forum’s postings fall under the intense scrutiny of historians, my decision to halt at one thousand postings will doubtless form the basis for much detailed analysis. Immortality at last!

Farewell, Naim forum!

tonym

I hope it's only a temporary departure Tony.

One of the beautiful things about this forum is the opportunity to meet people with a similar love of music and hi-fi and to share experiences. Whether or not you feel you are able to contribute on a technical level is irrelevant. There are many other ways you can and do contribute. I have had the opportunity to hear your wonderful system which I may otherwise not have done had we both not been members of this forum.

Congratulations on your 1000th post too.

I feel strangely sad to read this. This is odd, because I don't frequent the forum all that much. Your light and humorous touch, particularly during the sillier sessions on the forum has been appreciated and will be missed.

Mind you, best to go before all that dubious stuff with jam jars hits the tabloids.

Congratulations on such a stylish departure. Definitely the way to do it!

Kind regards,

Alastair

Indeed. The appeal of LOTR is baffling.

Bit of a Father Ted moment:

Tonym: "Well that's it, I've had my final say and I'm off"

House Maid: "Sure you'll stay for a cup of tea, won't you?"

Tonym: "No, my word's final and that's the end of it"

House Maid: "Ough sure go on, sit down and have a cuppa - go on, go on, go on .... you will, you will, you will....!!"

Stay tuned to find out if Tonym makes good his escape........ Big Grin

"Precious, precious, precious!" Gollum cried. "My Precious! O my Precious!"
And with that, even as his eyes were lifted up to gloat on his prize,
he stepped too far, toppled, wavered for a moment on the brink,
and then with a shriek he fell.
Out of the depths came his last wail "Precious", and he was gone.
