How does this compare to the Wiremold power strip? I was concerned to see that it had an internal fuse (whereas the Wiremold does not).
Who has tried this? |

I just bought one from my dealer here in LA, I'm setting up the system right now. He delayed getting me one till he could locate one without a fuse. So they do come without. I'm looking forward to getting this set up and burned in. He says it's better quality materials and layout of wires inside. We'll see.

I have one of these too and it is significantlybetter than the Wiremold. Much more extension at both ends of the frequency spectrum, greatly more dyamic and increased sense of spot-on timing and clarity. Easily worth the $350, and the $300 over the wiremold.

But it isn't that hard to *beat* the Wiremold to begin with.

I'm right in the middle of rebuilding my system, now i"m one plug shorter than the wire mold which had 9. It'll be worth the effort when I get it all done. Had to relevel the bottom rack.

Forgot to mention I am trying out CablePros Top of the line power cord.
Called the Reverie V2.. As mentioned, plugged everything in about 30 minutes ago. It is a big wow!! I would think this will be a 3 week run in also. |

Over night there has been a small bit of improvement. The noise floor is even lower and after all these years,I have been singing the wrong words to a song. The music is that much more understandable and coherent.
Slam,punch,image,soundstage,harmonics,organics.. All there. |

Hi Marc,
How are things? Do you mean you're trying a Reverie v2 for each Naim box or just one for the powerstrip? Jeremy |

Jeremy-Hey!
Things are great. Marlee realy appreciated your gesture. She still listens to the disc. The Reverie V2-Yes. Hooked it up the other night.Matter of fact, just got done listening.A very good start for a strip,Power cord, and huge Nema plug that are less than 24 hours old. The Transformer has run in now. The slam and punch you like. Come on over and light a match. We'll put it out from the chair. The combination of the Rev and the strip are a match made in heaven. I just hope it continues to run in like the last w/fuse strip.During the third week-Wholly crap....... At this point everything is better. The noise floor has dropped and everything that was there is better and the stuff that was not there? well, there is some of that too. Even more in tune and the timing is very very good. Not perfect.I hope this cooks in during run in.Harmonics are to die for and Jeremy,THE BASS!!! |

I have to second the Big WOW! but with the Rev 8. Finally finished setting it all up by 5pm, by 8 I'd had a few whiskey and waters, so was well lubed. The details in upper range were much clearer and a vague description that there's more presence to the music. However, I had changed the position of speakers too, closer together and another 10" out from the wall.
At first I had classical on the tuner, nice but not exciting. So I put on Beatles white album 1st CD. I was impressed, but still distracted from my days work and hated all the exposed wires behind the speaker now I wasn't concentrating on the music. It was engaging tho. Then I tried Emmy Lou Harris' Anthology CD. WOW! wonderful warmth and presence to her voice and music. By the third drink I decided something more complicated was needed. So I put on Dave Mathews' bonus CD a friend gave me., Very easy to distiguish the two saxes if I remember right. And mucho rhythum and percussion instruments. I liked the tizz on the cymbols and some sort of gong. It was easier to imagine a large setup of instraments and the seperation of them. Then I began to fantasize what all this would be like with a 250.2 to help fill out the bass. But it was getting late and back to contemporary classical on the tuner, some engaging woodwind stuff by Hindemeth. Some English stuff was slower and more mellow, as I was too, so I turned it all off and wandered off to bed at 11:30. I'll be really impressed if this improves over the next 3 weeks. I"m a happy camper now. I don't want to play with my vinyl and the AC by the system is annoying. At 90 degrees I'm not sure it's good to put needle to soft vinyl. Maybe some good Joni or more Emmy this hot afternoon. glenn |

These things are all sh*te, and Naim actively advise against them. But some of you just won't be satisfied until you've been parted from your wedge of folding.
Why not take out the internal fuse and see if it works better without? (Or maybe not..........) |

Glad to see you like the strip. I am interested to see how the first impression holds up over time, as many people have written about how they were initially enamoured by new cables, only to come back to NACA. Personally, I truly hope the Cablepro turns out to be a genuine improvement. Somehow, the idea of a $350 upgrade in the Naim world is very appealing.

Given that this "sh*te" is being sold by one of the most respected Naim resellers in the US and that it is basically a high quality mains distribution unit and not a fancy mains filter I can only assume that you had no clue what it was before you blasted off your response. Just for grins I've copied the wording from Gene's ad on eBay "The Noisetrapper Revelation power strip takes AC power delivery to another level. No filters, no surge suppressors, no circuit breakers, absolutely nothing to get in the way! Product Highlights • 4 Industrial Spec Grade high copper content brass duplex outlets for better conductivity • Non-magnetic aluminum chassis • Parallel wiring for hot, neutral, and grounds, all outlets can draw the power they need • 12 gauge silver-plated oxygen free copper wiring • Detachable shielded power cord, Cablepro manufactures this unit to incredible quality standards. OK, here is my deal, if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for your money back (except for shipping costs)." So for $350 and a money back guarantee I respectfully suggest that you check your facts and open your mind. Cheers Jim |

Word on the street is that a fuseless, series-wired version is on the way...just like the Wiremold.

David - given the degree of improvement the owners claim, what would be the advantage of a series-wired unit over the parallel-wired version?

My apologies to all the other dealers in the US as there around a dozen or so....not just Gene Rubin.

Hi Marc,
Thanks for the message - been a little out of action the last 6 weeks, spending a lot of precious time with the kids. No shortage of music what with Joe doing the Dayjams "gig" and Jemima playing the piano. I even finally broke down and bought a Jazz bass which is a real blast. My mains is on hold as I found out that although I have 2 inch conduit riser, the power co. had put in skinny 2 AWG cable, so I want to tackle that first. How is your power strip wired inside? From the description, the cablepro strip is star wired. This may work on UK mains but I have found it worse in US than series, something I have repeated many times. It sounds like your hydra experience agrees. Jeremy |

Dave D,
Is the series wiring an unbroken conductor as in the Wiremold? I don't relish the thought of 7 tiny lengths of wire and 20 or so contact points before the end socket. Jeremy |
