This horse I met was protecting his harem(?) and was NOT friendly. This was in 2005 and it's the only time I've felt fear of death.

Dear Christian,

I think that it is important to understand a little of the way animals think. No one would try to take a bone off a strange dog, and expect to get away without being bitten!

Without the benefit of your experience, neither would I stand still, showing no fear in the middle of a field with a stallion charging at me!! Eek Eek Big Grin

Back to wildlife photos. I was pleased with this, captured on my Panasonic DMC-LX2 pocket sized camera - excellent when out walking and you want something easy to carry.

The Swallowtail, so rare in Britain but I saw three whilst waking in Tuscany!

Geoff's picture of the whale on the last page is truly breathtaking. The picture although still, conveys movement of these wonderful creatures. Well, here's my attempt, albeit on a much smaller scale - the hummingbird hawk moth never seems to be still as it flits from flowerhead to flowerhead. I found it quite a challenge to follow them around.

Kind regards,

Peter

Hi all, thought I would add some photos of a recent trip to Snowdonia, and the terrifying Crib Goch hike (climb!) Thanks to those who helped me choose the camera, still getting used to it but very pleased so far, the light was terrible!

Regards,

Fred

Great pictures Fred ... making me homesick again.

Here's a couple of humpback whale shots from Hervey Bay just up the road (well about 4 hours drive I suppose). The breach was the only one we saw at that distance all day but I was on-the-lookout and prepared, so a little bit of luck and a lot of waiting.

Checkout the pictures at this flickr site. I don't know this lady but she takes beautiful pictures of my home country.

Cheers

The ex-girlfriend was on the phone for ages, so I went for a walk with my camera in the field behind the house. No colour adjustments, just a natural contrast in colours between the peacock butterfly and the crop:

....pure luck Peter. I was shooting more mundane whale pics...it happened...I clicked the shutter...it wasn't until at home reviewing I realised I had got the shot.

Fabulous Swallow tail BTW.....They didn't do half as well on the ONE SHow this evening...but I liked Arthur's comment.

...just a moth with good PR and a pretty frock Cool
