Even have to play a team induced handicap Lewis was the class of the field.
Congratulations Lewis and McLaren Mercedes. Yes I know it's not MGP. Howard |

A great drive. It makes you wonder how he messes up sometimes.
Isn't it good to see all those drivers genuinely getting on so well, even after on-track arguments. Tony |

He's quite young (22) and it's only his 2nd season in F1. I hope and judging by the last 2 races he is beginning to come to terms with his understandable youthful over enthusiasm. Massa looked quite average by comparison (again). |

Another absolutely masterful drive by young Lewis. He was head and shoulders above everyone else on the track.
As you said Howard, even with the team induced handicap - how on earth could they expect him to pull out a lead of 22-25 seconds over 6-7 laps??!! That would mean lapping at nearly 4 seconds per lap faster than Massa!! It also throws up the issue of the safety car for me. Although bringing it out made the race more exciting ultimately, it does seem unfair that the race leader having set a lead of 11.5 seconds over his nearest rival should then have that completely wiped out through no fault of his own. Surely they should retain the time advantage held at the time the safety car comes out through to the end of the race and have the final time adjusted accordingly. Especially so as race strategy can go completely out of the window as a result. Anyway Lewis certainly raced extremely well today. I just hope he can keep this level of concentration 'til the end of the season because silly mistakes have cost him this year as they did the championship last year. Mark |

I think mclaren should have brought lewis in when the pace car was out and it could easily have all gone badly wrong. he may well win the championship this year...well im hoping anyway.

Lewis was in a different race to everyone else. I wonder why Massa didn't resist more at the end?

Perhaps he has already seen a seat being made with 'F.A.' printed on the back..... Tony |

And F.A. alludes to what Massa is going to win this year?

Is that for "Fall Apart" Alonso given his lack of performance/skill/judgement yesterday? Jono |

You would be really glad you'd signed Alonso from next year or maybe 2010 on that performance?

The McLaren appears to be far more driveable than in the beginning of the season and this seems to be allowing Hamilton to eek out a few tenths - even over Kovalainen who's a very fast driver. Massa certainly let Hamilton through very nicely and could have made more of a fight of it I thought, but I got the impression both Ferraris, and most of the others, were really struggling for grip in the hairpin, particularly when coming out of it.
The really impressive thing for me about Hamilton's drive was that Kovalainen was so far behind. McLaren should have had a 1-2, but because they ran Kovalainen on the same strategy as everybody else (similar 2nd stint), I get the impression his changes didn't work as well. All that said, Hamilton could easily not have won the race. If the pace car had stayed out another lap, there's a good chance he would not have been able to get around quickly enough to take the win. That said, the amount of graining on the soft tyres at the end of the 27 laps could have handed Piquet or Massa the win since the McLaren chews those tyres up. Piquet did incredibly well in terms of strategy though, didn't he? Certainly a good advert for going long at Hockenheim... Regards, Frank. Good Hungarian Grand Prix:
Massa engine blowing up near the end - there is a god. I so hate Ferrari Tim |

The next few races will be tough for LH I think as the tracks are more suited to Ferrari's strengths.
If it rains, well thats a different story. Matt. |

I felt so sorry for Massa. Poor bugger did everything right, drove a beautiful race. He really did not deserve to have that happen to him. Then again, Lewis didn't deserve to have a puncture. That's racing I guess, but I felt more sorry for massa than Hamilton, after such a storming start and outdriving the McLarens for 67 laps.

Completely agree with Frank. After the first corner I had to eat my own words with regards to Massa's apparent lack of fight and determination. Hamilton's problems could well be a result of over-driving the car at the edge of the track. Again a shame, because if he has to curb his enthusiasm so as to avoid tyre wear and damage, then I'll really miss his oversteery moments.

A good race from Hamilton after the initial cock up to allow Raikkonen to pass. I hope the inquiry does not find too much of a problem as I thought he did little wrong. Certainly Schumacher got away with much, much worse during his career with no punishment.
