Waste of money if you ask me, you're better off getting a season ticket for Europe's leading club side! Winker

Although I was forced in Wales to play RU when I was great footie scorer, I learned that I could score lots of tries in RL.

My favourite sides are Bridgend, Bristol, Wales, England/NZ or anyone who plays well for fun.

I think that I still like some RL from Wigan to Wigan, but I still don't know why their Cup is at semi or whatever stage in summer ...

Hey at least you lot have a decent club championship.....us Scots have very little to look forward to week in week out. Unless it involves stuffing the English at Murreyfield (we don't travel well Big Grin) its hard to get excited about it.

Althoguh we weren't that bad considering the injury list at the 6 nations. God we need Jason Whyte back for the RWC.

So as I'm exiled in England, my supporting services for a club are up for offer........ Winker

Mark,
I would have no problems with watching Wasps per se, but its a bloody long way away.....suppose it would give me an excuse to come to london and see all the pretty girls Big Grin

Most local Premiership RU team then would probably be Sale. Well worth watching too for the brand of rugby they play.

Thanks Mark......might be able to meet for a beer if you travel to away games? Or if I do, if I eventually get around to it. Been wanting to get back to watching rugby for a while now.

My own feeling about supporting clubs is the subtle combination of 'real connection' and 'keep it local'.

For instance, I don't live that locally to Leicester, but my mother's side of the family is from there, and a cousin played for the club (not 1stXV) a few years back.

But Sale would be a great local side for you to follow and champion here! And they play great rugby.

When Chillkram (whose idea it really was) JamieWednesday, FlyFisher and I were discussing the concept of a 'Forum Rugby Club', it was partly for exchanging views and banter hereabouts, but also acknowledging the possibility of perhaps being able to meet up with Forum friends from time to time at various venues around the place, for a game, a beer and a good chat.

Leicester is a 'dangerous' venue - (1) because the visiting team (Wasps, Sale, Gloucester, Bristol, etc) are going to mauled; (2) because the sponsor's finest (Everard's Tiger) is served 'direct from the barrel' to maintain 'real ale' acceptability; and (3) because of the inevitable visit to Cymbiosis ... (JW got away with it quite lightly...Roll Eyes)

(a) 'London' Wasps ain't so hot on geography - it's actually High Wycombe; but (b) you're spot on about Wasps being girlies Big Grin

Don't drag me into that one James....not yet anyway! I'll look into going to see Sale. There are a few of us local who would probably want to go which means i might get out of driving duties Big Grin

As liverpool is football daft and they have no idea of real sport (ducking for cover) its a bit of a bind. There are a couple of amateur clubs..one of whom have asked me to go and train with them (just for the training and fun) otherwise its pretty barren here. And surrounding areas just play the bastard offspring of the real game. Big Grin

The meeting up bit sounds great though....could even provide some accommodation if any of youselves venture this far north, but then it might be a bit cold for you southern girlies!

Ah, the nomadic existence that is the 'London' Wasps. But they used to be based a few hundred yards from my back door in Sudbury and they still train in Acton.

James is absolutely right. The idea was to have a bit of banter on here, travel around and meet up with forum members who enjoy rugby, watch a few games, have a few beers together and inevitably talk about music and hi-fi.

We could even attend an England game or two together if people are up for it.

Ryan, looks like you're our Sale correspondent!

I know Mark, I was just making a point for the sake of banter! Like I said it would be great to meet other forum members even if it was outside of hifi.......can't beat gentlemen playing the hooligans game!! With a few scoops afterwards too.

So here in NZ, the great "Maternity Leave" debate is going full swing. Has this news reached your shores?

Essentially Chris Jack and Doug Howlett will miss the first test against South Africa to see their first child born.

Now half the country reckons they should be forced to play!

Sale are also my nearest Premiership team, but as mentioned earlier on another thread I started "following" Wasps from a young age and have stuck with them. If I remember correctly at that time Liverpool (with a certain Mike Slemen?) and Waterloo were more prominent Nort-Western teams.
