Following on from some of the comments made on the MotoGP thread I again wonder what it is about F1 that drags me into watching it.

Ok, overtaking has improved a tiny amount and there's no traction control or launch control but even so, it's rarely exciting.

I've been to MotoGP, loved it, been to World Superbikes (Toseland won) and loved it. BUT. I just can't be arsed to watch it on the telly. F1, on the other hand, if I can't watch live I'll flick through on the PVR stopping to view if it looks like something actually happened.

Ok, I'm not a biker, but I don't see that as relevant. I love race bike tech, I like the way that I can see the riders move around on the bike, I stand in awe track-side at the acceleration and slidey braking......

Anyone else the same?

Oh, and congrats at long, long, last to John Surtees.

For me, one of the things about F1 is that it is pretty much the pinnacle of motorsport. The money-no-object engineering of the top teams, the raw speed, braking power and traction of the cars, and the level of skill of the drivers - can't really be found anywhere else.

This is a real surprise! I thought F1 had stopped at the time the BBC ceased broadcasting it! I thought that was why it went off the TV.

I thought it had been stopped because it had become so boring and predictable!

Golly I must keep up, but most Sport really does not go well on the Radio, except Cricket, which is better without the pictures! I have not had a Tele for years, so for receiving broadcasts I only use on the Radio now.

Every race I'm at home for, I think to myself "right, I gonna sit down & watch this, it could be good".
After about 30 mins or so, if I'm still awake, I think to myself, well OK, its still better than cutting the lawn/going to Sainsbury's. At the end of the race, even if darling Lewis has won, I think "boring".
Yes it is the pinnacle of car development & it has SO much glamour, money etc & the commentators do a bloomin good job of talking it up. But, at the end of the day, yada yada yada.
Hey, its an excuse to put your feet up for an hour or two on a Sunday.
Matt.

I was only kidding. I used to watch it, though commentary alone would be a marathon for me!

F1 is like sex. Even when it's bad, it turns out to be rather good!

And it gets weirderer and weirderer. I really didn't know THIS went on.

What a strange sport.

Another weekend of mistakes for Hamilton. He needs to cut out the basic errors or he will never be world champion.

I think I said out loud that Hamilton is a wanker.
He seems to be going the way of Coulthard. Showing incredible promise in the Williams then stuffing it into the pit entry wall twice in one season!
F1 takes no prisoners and if he continues to mess up another youngster, twice as hungry, will pop along in another competitive car and that'll be that.

I really hope he sorts himself out.
