I'm unsure what you are talking about.
1: As you are going through the (one off) log in procedure you will see a tick box marked "Remember Me for Forums". From then one (as long as you retain the necessary cookie) you should just come to the site and you will be logged in automatically.
2: If you have not been doing this over three and a half years - I imagine you know how to do it (slightly inefficiently).

I quite often visit the forum on shared computers so this isn't realistically an option on those, and it is profoundly irritating to see that message pop up each time, which I thought was what Mike was talking about. Are you waiting for someone who fell into a coma just before the switch to wake up or something, I don't think someone who hasn't visited in 3.5 years is likely to remember their old log in details anyway!

I know exactly what I'm doing thanks Adam.
As a basic security measure I certainly wouldn't tick that box whether on a shared PC or not. I access this site from a work PC; at home and (sometimes) on a smart phone. I can't think of any circumstances where it would be appropriate to tick such a box other than to overcome tardiness by others in removing an utterly redundant page.
