Cracking result for The New Saints FC that, but you have to have a bit of sympathy for Caersws.

Played 3, lost 3 for Caersws - think they're in trouble already. I tip Connah's Key Nomads to take the title.

Oh no, hang on a minute. Just maybe I was referring to...

LIVERPOOL SIX - Derby 0.

Torres and Babel look like great signings.

I was thinking of starting a Forum fan club for Airbus UK, but I don't think it will take off! Roll Eyes

Or that matter the league!

Jet your team held out well today against manure, in the same way that Wigan did initially and especially with 10 men. Their goal led a charmed life, but justice was done in the end.

Regards

Nic

Beware The Ide's of August (erm' and September) I'd say Nic ..Prem wise you've faced Bolton, Villa, and Wigan etc. ....whereas we've faced Spurs, Liverpool and Man U already! Eek ....

...It's a long train runnin' this Premiership thingy yer knaas!

Jet,

Agreed there is a long way to go yet, but it has been a while since we were in the top half of the table! I would rather be playing manure now, while they are still out of sorts, than later when they get going. We have been less than convincing so far, but the new signings look pretty useful.

Scotty,

Look after Nobby Solano for us, he will be sorely missed, a great little player.

Regards

Nic

Things just get worse for Caersws...........not too sue if Connah's Quay are up to it either. Llanelli are looking strong, especially considering their earlier win against Welshpool - but early days yet!

Very Sad news tonight re Ian Porterfield's passing....he was my favourite player (even pre Cup Final) back then .....a classy + cultured midfielder.
And the first of the 73 Cup Final side to pass away ....I'll alway's remember being behind the goal at Wembley when he hit THAT shot into the Leeds net.

...RIP to a real Sunderland Legend

Jet

Very sad news - I remember his Wembley goal. I guess the lasting memory most football fans will have of him. An excellent player who played the game in the right way.

Interesting to read what his wife said (Ian was, of course, managing the Armenian national side):

He had his wish to die in harness. Just over two weeks ago, we flew to Armenia for the Portugal game and I'll always remember what happened at the open training session at the stadium on the day before the game. The stadium was packed to see all the Portuguese stars like Ronaldo, Deco and the rest, but when Ian walked out, they all stood up and shouted his name. It was very moving.

Arsenal top again after 3 years, the patience and grooming starts to produce quality and determination, Wengers a master. The youngsters are becoming men as Tottenham found out today.

And to paraphrase another thread "You can't help messing with Spurs" Big Grin

A 1-1 draw away to Leicester today is a bit of an improvement for QPR but the table still looks a bit depressing already this season.

Mark I thought you'd be a bit happier with that score. The tide is turning?

Yeah, got to be honest Dean, it's better than I expected, but we've moved down a place and are now second from bottom. It just looks a bit depressing already.

How's the table by the way. Have you got it set up yet?

Is it worth having a bet on the hammers for a Champions league slot?

.....Three much needed points for the Mackems on a genuinely emotional day ...Funny old game football though innit? ...Heskey comes back in from the cold for England (amongst much controversy) and his effect on our ability to make and take chances was amazing....

Sunderland sign Kenwynne Jones for 6 mill and many fans thought HOW Much?

...He then proceeds to demonstrate against Reading just what a big strong forward can bring to a team even in the Prem

.....A bit early to compare him to Drogba though as many mackems were doing on leaving the SOL post game though!
