Scotty,
Cheers. Next game is home to Bolton. They have probably got enough time to re-employ Big Sam to manage against us for the match!
Call me paranoid, but did Manure really need all the extra help from the ref?
1) Perfectly good goal wrongly given offside against Owen. 2) Ronaldo not being booked for persistent diving 3) The "free" kick prior to the first goal given to Ronaldo for falling over when no Newcastle player was within a yard of him. 4) Ferdinand goal given despite being offside. 5) Goal given without the ball actually crossing the line. 6) Smith being given a straight red for politely asking the ref how much he had trousered from the game.
All of that was in addition to us gifting them two goals from defensive blunders. Ronaldo is a brilliant footballer, but he remains a cheat.
Bitter and twisted moi?

p.s. i agree the refs these days are complete shite - we had mike riley yesterday who continually blew up for the most stupid things and tried his best to ruin a free flowing game.

One of the main reasons I don't watch football any more, since becoming "professional" they think they are "stars" too.Footballers get paid and cheat why shouldn't they. I use cheat in terms that they are not doing their jobs properly and cheating the fans and players of a fair and even game. From what I have seen and heard the reffing is no better and if anything worse since their elevation.

Thought Sunderland played really well today - a very good result too. My tips to go down are Bolton, Fulham and Derby BTW.
Sad to see what's happened at Newcastle, but I don't think Harry would be the right man - not sure about Mark Hughes, he has done wonders at Blackburn. I think managing Newcastle is hard because the expectation is to play open attacking football and to win - it's great when it works; however most managers will think of shutting up shop before they look at strengthening the attacking options. George Burley would play open attacking football - whether he'd win games is another matter. One thing I didn't understand is why didn't Alan Smith just get off the field as soon as he could - why waste time arguing with the ref, getting sent off and having to miss a match. I guess it shows he cares.

Sounness wouldn't stand a chance (back me up here Nic)- and I don't think they would touch Shearer even tho he's a legend, he has no experience as a manager - Ashley is a businessman not a gambler - I reckon Hughes (if he'll move)
Bloomin' heck a couple of wins and were mid table - funny old game.
