Hey Nic
I see Barton's lost the plot again (and remanded at her Maj's pleasure) - How's it going at St James's these days? Jet said they were grim on Boxing Day - Has Big Sam got long left? Hope you had a good Xmas mate Diccus |

Diccus,
When you can only scrape a draw (that you did not deserve) at home against the bottom club, and lose away to the club second from bottom, it has to be a worry. Having said that, the performance against Arsenal at home was good and we often raise our game against the better clubs, although not against Liverpool! You will remember that Sam was not the manager I wanted in the first instance, but ditching managers in mid season is unlikely to help stabilise things either. What no one seems to be able to figure out is what his tactics are, nor why he seems to continue to play people out of position. I have never been one to boo my own team, nor leave before the end of a match, but there have been plenty doing that of late. Whilst I know being a manager is not a popularity contest, it does seem at times like Sam is deliberately antagonising both players and fans! By complete contrast Ashley, the club owner, seems to be ingratiating himself with the fans at every opportunity. He was very happy to oblige one of my mate mates (dressed as a black and white Santa) by posing for photos at the Wigan game, whilst again standing on the terrace with the away fans. Ashley is clearly no mug and will be doing his market research, picking up on what the fans are feeling about the manager and the style of football. As for Barton, it was only a matter of time. Shame he is not so combative on the pitch. Have a great New Year Diccus, we are seeing it in up the coast at our mate's place at Embleton. Back for City game of course. Regards Nic |

A very logical view Nic. Yes, Ashley going from recluse to being photographed more than Paris Hilton is a revelation.
Have a pint of Black Sheep for me in Low Newton and enjoy yourself and all the best to you and yours. Diccus |

Scotty,
Thank your players for me when you next see them, done us a great favour. Arsenal though are showing great strength as well as great skill these days something not in earlier Wenger teams. Dean.. |

Wow how many invites did the Hammers need to win that match? Well done for all that.

hi all,
well i went to the game straight from the airport after a fantasic holiday in NY but suffering with flu and jetlag. thankfully we were not delayed ! had pie n mash first then went to the central pub in barking road opposite the ground for a pint and everyone was a bit negative about the game and after the reading game perhaps they had good reason. but after following the hammers for many years ive grown to realise that west ham on their day can beat anyone, whats a little worrying is the fact that they seem to raise their game for the BIG games.?? little carlito got the standing ovation that he thoroughly deserved and i must admit that i had a lump in my throat as he seemed touched by it all himself. he will always have a special bonding with the west ham fans. we were up for it straight away and even when the mancs took the lead i was not too concerned. the penalty miss just raised the tempo on and off the pitch and was definately the turning point for me anyway. when we equalised there was only one outcome as the hammers then went for the jugular. i am however quite surprised that the mancs defence secumbed to 2 set peices so close together. got home around 6pm a very happy hammer and slept straight through for 18 hours............which i cant recall having so much sleep ever!! all the best comrades and happy new year. now bring on those gooners ! scotty. |

After watching our game on Saturday I can say it is no disgrace to lose to Arsenal. Make a mistake, you get punished. End of

Well James, we went to Stamford Bridge and scored the only goal of the game.
That can't be bad! |

I'm keeping my head down!
At least I will finally get to use the free cup tickets offered for paying up front for next year's season ticket. It had been looking like a crap deal up until this point, but clearly the judgement of someone paying in advance for a season ticket to see Newcastle again next year has to be questioned Nic |

Scotty,
Thanks, I know! Better just take one game at a time I suppose, still got to beat Stoke in the replay. The Birmingham return game last year was one of the worst public humiliations I have seen for a while, and I have seen a few. Nice to see our old boys working well for you. Regards Nic |

So if we beat Man city at their place (which would be going some), then we've got the blades to play with! No grudges there then. Someone is 'avin a laugh. Matt. |

He'll only break the other one when he does come back, Scotty! Anyway, now that QPR are the world's richest club, we'll be seeing you high-flying premiership boys in a couple of years (maybe not you, Nic, we'll pass you on the way down if Big Sam's still there!) Mark |

Mark,
Cheers mate, nothing like kicking a man while he is down! The last time I was at QPR we were stuffed 3-0 aided by a certain Les Ferdinand, who later of course became Sir Les of The Toon. Despite the squad being decimated by illness, and subsequently being taken to the cleaners, my abiding memory was of the non stop singing of the Newcastle fans. I miss attending more away games, even when we lose we win, if you know what I mean. Regards Nic |
