A Hi-cap makes a big difference to a 202/200, and is useful as you continue to upgrade. Given that it (only !!) costs 1k, I would do this upgrade before an XPS2.
I got the Hi-line in hand but not yet plugged in the CDX2 for the time being.
My CDP landed in April 2008 and it just ran in for around 150 hours. I think the run-in time is not enough, right? However, my NAC202 landed in mid of Jan 2008. I think the run-in time is enough, right?

That's a £4k+ PS. My, limited, experience tells me that with one of them driving a CDX2, the CDX2 is not going to stay in the system for a long term. I feel that combination is too upfront. (0.02€)
I ran a bare CDX with 202/200, then 202/Hi/200, then 202/Hi/Napsc/200 and didn't feel the need for a better source. I had an opprtunity for an XPS and once it went in the system I didn't want to take it out. Talk about speaker upgrade ! As a result I sold my subwoofer.
I think the HiCap is a good choice, and dramatic. It's also less than half price compared with an XPS2.
