quote: They could, but the design is patented. Money for old rope? I think there are plenty more, ahem, lucrative areas one might investigate first, such as interconnects and speaker cables (which can run to waaaay more than the cost of Mana, but undoubtedly cost far less to make). To answer your question, PSUs aside, I can confirm that Mana had the *greatest* effect on my amp setup (even more than the CD or speakers) - don't know why, sometimes it's better not to analyse things too deeply - just accept the magic and enjoy. BTW, do any of you know whether Mana is sold on the Continent? I have emailed them twice but they can't be bothered to answer. No one here seems to have heard of the stuff.

Thomas,
quote: I live halfway around the world from the folk at Mana and they have been very responsive to my initial enquiries and subsequent purchase orders. Perhaps you have been mailing to the wrong addy (mana@mana.co.uk). You might like to try phoning them instead. They are open for business from 11am UK time. I don't think they have a well established dealer network around the world yet and hence mail order may be your only option. In any case, they have a money-back guarantee if you don't like their products. James |

As far as I know there is no money back guarantee for continental Europe and you have to pay the shipping yourself, but in my experience the people at Mana are very friendly and their service is very good. I didn't want to pay the shipping, so I had an English colleague buy me a Mini Table. No problem at all.
I'm thinking about ordering a six-tier, but I would like to hear some Hutter first. Unfortunately, Hutter is not yet available in Luxemburg, so I'll be a bit more patient. Ciao! Willem |

I don't get it, I wanted to learn about Mana, I went to the Mana forum and they were very nice,
tried to help me, e-mailed me with the details I asked for - I don't see why members keep discussing Mana in this forum - but I say in advance that every one has the right to discuss about any subject he wants , it is not my forum we have a freedom of speach etc and etc..... Arie |

Mark,
I noticed that the people of Mana at their site are familiare with the equipment of Naim very well, there are many members there who are familiare with Naim equipment and maybe more familiare with Mana than members here. Arie |

Mark,
You could have patented glass on spikes on a metal frame before 1989. You will see from GB 2 230 426 that since this Mana patent was granted the idea is no longer patentable by anyone else. dozy |

Mark,
Firstly you can patent the Mana design. Not sure if it has been as I have not done a patent search but you most certainly can. Therefore what you propose Naim do is theft. Now if they can achieve a similar effect then that is a different matter. Secondly, if you want to you can have each piece of equipment on a totally separate stand with Mana and with most of the other supports such as Hutter .... You just have to have a large listening room (lots of floor/wall space taken up) and deep bulging pockets full of money. As to does it work with amps etc. Yes it does but don't take my word or anyone elses for that matter. Try one or more of the better stands and listen for yourself. Then you can report back to the rest of us on your findings. Nic Peeling posted a few months ago on how he thought the various stands/supports/cones/pulsar points worked. His hypothesis was that they all essentially work by sinking energy within the equipment (airborne vibrational energy, vibrational energy from transformers etc) and gettting it out of the equipment. This then reduces the various microphonic effects which are inject small but appreciable amounts of noise into the signal. The net effect is to leave you with a cleaner sound with much reduced noise floor, more controlled base and sweeter treble. Hope this helps. Regards Neil |

quote: Ivor must have said this at least once... As for the rest, I think it is would be a mistake to assume that the value of any support system (or any item of gear, for that matter) has anything to do with the intrinsic value of its components. The price of any product also includes an allowance for the R & D, and in the case of the products from the Church of the Sympathetic Resonance, this must have been fairly considerable. Having looked closely at how their stuff is put together, the term "welded angled steel" doesn't begin to describe it. Exactly which steel, in what dimensions, cut to what lengths and to how close a tolerance, and welded exactly how (given that every weld will introduce a distorting force in the components involved, so there has to be a degree of tension introduced by the assembly method). These are just some of the questions that the Priests must have had to answer for themselves, and (just like electronics), all of the answers are relevant, and probably cost a small fortune in experimentational man hours and materials to obtain. That the resulting product appears simple is a tribute to the expertise involved, and certainly the build quality is magnificent, whatever view one takes on the musical effects. Just a shame they didn't try clear glass... Best; Mark (I still don't like this |

James, Willem,
“Thanks for the information.” I emailed post@mana.co.uk, which is the address I found on their website – will try mana@mana or call them. Thomas |

Mark,
I have the impression the "new" Mana stands come standard with clear glass. You can still order the "smoked" glass, but you'll have to specify it. Ciao! Willem |

"products from the Church of the Sympathetic Resonance" Oh verr, verrr good Mark! After 7 years of my campaigning that clear float glass is sonically & musically superior to smoked, it would appear that the Priests have 'discovered' this to be the case. I think I will now start my campaign for plain crisps... Bob. |

Interesting that the Church have stopped smoking the glass. Now Rico, does it still have the two little damping strips? Best; Mark (I still don't like this |
