A14 Brampton Hut Services. Two dodgy looking geysers swapping gear from one car boot to another at 10.30pm

Just another day in the life of Doctor Peter Swain of 'Cymbiosis' - friend to the audiophile. The ever helpful Peter had gone out of his way to save me the drive to his Leicester shop.

And here she is, back home in all her glory:-

What a beauty eh?

New 'cherry' plinth, Trampolinn 2 and Aro.

The sound is quite phenomenal. Jaw droppingly good in fact. Bass control, slam, and power like I've never had from vinyl - bigger 3D sound stage, better resolution of detail and timbral information at all frequencies, and better control in complex packages.

This is one hell of a tone-arm.

Thanks again Peter for a superb job, and your great service. And thanks too to Naim for getting the last batch of Aros assembled and dispatched.

John.

Congrats John!

This is why it is so puzzling that people tell me the ARO is a sissy arm.

It might not *slam* like a Linn arm, but then, the music sounds more natural the way the ARO delivers it to my ears.

Did you try the Ekos SE?

I too would be curious on the answer to that question.

The problem, as I see it, with the Ekos SE and how it relates to current Aro owners (such as myself) is the sheer economics of the proposition. The tonearm, plus Keel, weigh in at over $8000 - quite a financial investment at this stage of the game. I purchased my LP12 new three years ago and I presently have about $10K invested in it. To bring that to $18K seems a bit much.

John,

I hope the emphasis is not to be placed on last, is it?

I'm presuming you mean most recent batch.

Greg,

It's still less costly than a CD555.

Think about that. Smile

The cherry plinth looks nice, doesn't it?
Damn.. I am still looking for a fluted cherry plinth.

John

That picture scared me - thought Peter might have sneaked into my place and taken back my new plinth!! Eek Fear not, I'vechecked and it's still here!

Lookin' good and I'm sure sounding even better.

Congrats.

Peter

Morning John,
Very Nice – the latest plinths are very attractive indeed – I’ve had a maple one for 2 years now and am well happy with it.

I do like the look of the Aro, apart from no lift/lower device, and when my 17d2 wears out I’ll do a straight swap for the 17d3, and let Peter check the deck at the same time.

He sure does know how to set up an Lp12, for sure.

Regards

Andy.

John - many congratulations on a fantastic looking, and I am sure sounding, deck! And I look forward to an opportunity to hear it 'live'.

Am I now allow to reveal the name of my Nima/Heimdall benefactor? Winker

With all good wishes,
James

Lovely John!

Although the ARO’s a bit quirky I think it looks (and sounds) terrific.

I feel a trip up the A140 coming on soon… Big Grin

Such a beautiful arm. Nicely routed armwires. I presume the anti-skate weight was not in its correct place for photographic purposes only...Smile
