...but the Kimber chords work well. Aren't most (all?) Naim power-leads 'built-in', btw? If so, wouldn't cutting the lead to fit a male IEC connector invalidate the warranty? Just a thought... John

I recently tried out a Musicworks power lead for my CDX taking great trouble with the help of a friend to keep me blinded while I listened. The Musicworks lead was very clearly an impriovement and has duly been installed for the princely sum of 50UKP. I don't know if there's any way of ordering them in the US but WWW.audiocounsel.u-net.com (my dealer) might. Cheers Paul

The Kimber powercords and other "Russ Andrews" kimber based mains accessories work for me. I have cut my 3.5 power lead and installed the iec. It was a worry - but has improved the sound. I have also stuck one on my hi-cap. Russ has a 30 day trial period.. but a bit of a problem if you have to cut your lead.. Jonathan

??? This would be a downer... I'm considering a CD5 with Epona PSU, but would want to use my own Kimber HiCurrent Powerchord on it. John

I've put Naim, Nordost, Shahuro, Shunyata, Blue Circle, and two different Electraglides on my CDX/XPS. Electraglide Reference Triglide was the clear winner, thought the Nordost El Dorado was damn good too.

If you mean captive, non-IEC power cables? The answer is no. I think only the slim-line series and odd bits like the NAPSC have captive leads, probably for good reason. I can't see how adding another interface (detachable power cords) that could corrode over time actually improves the music. James

Since I have a CD 5, the ability to detach the chord is not an issue.
