Well, here we go....
Tatty but very good ProJect Debut 1 T/T, CDX2, 282, 200, DAB Roll Eyes Hicap2, Stageline, Napsc- on the floor somewhere, all sat nicely on a Q4 glass rack with 32m columns. And of course, the Dynaudio Focus 220's. Damn, they rock!

Good job Rickard!
And a very nice place to sit and listen!

Thanks John and Gianluigi.
It's nice at night to sit and listen, the houses seen through the windows are lit up during night with spotlights and to the left are several more windows with a view to a sort of park with alot of Beech (we live on the 5th floor).
Curtains are a nono depending on the view and the "scandinavian cool" school of decorating.

Regards
Rickard

Hi Stefan,

To say that these speakers are brilliant is a bit of an under statement. To my ears, they are fast and controlled, punchy, detailed, however can be subtle when the music calls for it.

My dealer has been round several times to do various tweaks and upgrades to the system and he still cant believe how fantastic they sound in a home environment. He even pointed this out to the Dynaudio rep when he saw him.

He also thinks that my room accoustics 'seem' to suit the system very well.

He even said that if i ever wanted to upgrade the speakers, he would be hard pushed to make any recommendations!! (DBLS excluded!)

So, basically what i am saying is, they are perfect for me. I love em. Worth every penny.

But as always, thats to me ears!

Cheers!

Ask Dynaudio to quote you with this (and make some serious money...)

Great to hear when somebody has found his/her speaker nirvana ! I'm jealous...

Hello all,

Here is a quick picture of my current system.

CD5i/112/FC2/Stageline K
Accuphase A-20v amp
VPI Scout w/ Lyra Titan i
NAD Monitor Series 4300 tuner
Finite Elemente HD12 Master Reference Pagode rack
Sonics Anima speakers
Audio Physic Luna subwoofer

I plan to sell the Accuphase and upgrade to a 282/200 combo next. Then, I'll replace the VPI with a LP12. After that, I'll add a Hicap, upgrade the CD5i to CD5x and add a NAT 05 tuner.

Let me know what you think.

Norbert

Hi Norbert,
How do you like the Anima? I heard the Allegra recently and was quite impressed.
re the upgrade, if the Anima have similar characteristics to the Audio Physic Step then you may find that a 250.2 works better than a 200. That was my experience with the Step SLE. The disadvantage is that you would then need a *cap for the 282 as the 250 can not drive the 282.
Good luck,
Huw

Hi Norbert and Huw
I agree with Huw, but you have the FC2 already, eventhough not in the HiCaps league. So you can get 282/250.2 direct and save up for a supercap instead!!!
BTW, nice rack, I'd like either a Pagode MAster Reference or a Fraim, but the Pagodes shelf can't be knocked around as the Fraim's (shelves)...

Regards
Rickard

P.S HAve you filled your (I'm guessing here) Stand2 with sand and leadshots? It made a real difference when I had a pair of Dynaudio Contour 1.4s with Stand2 D.S

Huwge,

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking the 250.2 was my first choice, but funds might not strech that far. The Anima are great. Very similar to the Allegra's but less impact obviouly. The Step SLE is one of my all time favorite loudspeakers. They are almost warm compared to the Animas. The Animas are so open and crystal clear, it's like nothing I have heard before.

Richard,

Thanks for the comments. I was thinking the same thing about the Flatcap 2. The rack is killer. I'm so happy with the difference in made in my system. You are correct, they are Dynaudio Stand 2s. Great stands, purchased them when I had 1.4s. They are indeed filled with lead shot and sand. Makes a huge difference.

An upgrade in preamp should yield a great result.
How much (roughly) are the Animas and Luna (is it a Luna or LunaII?)

Norbert,

I would suggest a home demo if possible - the 250's voicing suits Joachim Gerhard's speakers better than the 200 in my opinion but you need to listen yourself. Also, my experience with Step SLE was to avoid bi-wiring - I made a bridge with NACA5. Not sure if the Anima has a bi-wire option. Also, try and listen to some different speaker cables - I found NACA5 worked really well with the Steps in my old apartment. With the Dyns I now have I am still seeking something better - Atlas Hyper 3.0 is a compromise.

I know that many people can struggle to find their perfect speaker, but i only stumbled across these by chance when they were set up in the demo room.

Lets just say, i left the shop with them!!

When i got them home i had an Arcam set up and i thought they sounded good on that, until i bought my currrent system and then... WOW!!

Happy hunting. Everyones speaker nirvana is out there somewhere... it may just take a little time to find.

Richard,

The Animas retail for $2600 in the US, and I'm using the original Luna, not the Luna II. I find the original Luna to be much more musical and offer better definition than the newer Luna II.

Huw,

Yeah, I think I need to find more money for the 250 now. The Animas are a single wire speaker so, biwiring won't be an issue. I plan to use NACA5 as well. Joachim's newer speakers (Sonics) are a little more efficient than his older designs, do you think that will play a role in a 200 vs. 250.2 comparison?

Maybe - it's why I suggest a home audition. To me it's less about efficiency and more about voicing - some prefer the 200, but I have found the 250.2 to work better with old style Audio Physic speakers. When I listened to the Allegra I felt the same way as I heard it with both solid state and valve amplification.

Given that you have the Luna, you may find the 200 works OK and at least means you don't have to pay an extra *cap straight away.

Hope this works!

My modest, but hugely enjoyable system: CDX2, 252, XPS2, Supercap, 250 on Isoblue. Speakers are ProAc D15s in the lovely Yew finish.

Keep groovin'

Ian
